Bye-Bye Dollar: India & UAE Agree to Trade in Local Currencies

  • Bye-Bye Dollar: India & UAE Agree to Trade in Local Currencies
    by https://www.rt.com/
New Delhi and Abu Dhabi have inked a currency swap agreement to boost trade and investment without involvement of a third currency like the US dollar. The swap is for an amount of two billion UAE dirham or 35 billion Indian rupees (US$495 million), according to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

“The bilateral currency swap agreement between India and UAE is expected to reduce the dependency on hard currencies like the US dollar,”
     the embassy said.

“It is also expected to give a push for the local currencies of the two nations and may reduce the impact of volatility in exchange rate arising from the dependency on a third currency. It is also expected to reduce the transmission costs arising from exchange rate risk,” the embassy added.

The sides also discussed cooperation in energy, security, trade, investments, space, defense, and so on. With more than $50 billion in bilateral trade, the two countries are each other’s largest trade partners. India’s foreign direct investment into the UAE was $6.6 billion in 2017, while the UAE’s investment in India stood at $5.8 billion.

Palestinians ‘Cast to the Margins’ as Israel Deepens Ties with Gulf Arab States

Note: the idea of expanding Gaza into the Sinai desert is BOGUS. The Zionists want to expel all Palestinians in Gaza into the Sinai desert.

  • The Arab leadership have sold out the Palestinians to Trump’s Deal of the Century. This is a plan to drive the Palestinians into the Sinai desert. Publicly, they will deny it but all the leaks have confirm it.
  • Palestinians ‘Cast to the Margins’ as Israel Deepens Ties with Gulf Arab States
    by Ali Harbhttps://www.middleeasteye.net/
Cooperation between Israel and Gulf countries ‘should be expanded,’ says Israel’s intelligence and transportation minister

A surprise meeting with Oman’s Sultan Qaboos. A tour of the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates. A call for a rail link between Haifa and the Gulf.

Over the last month, Israeli leaders have made a string of friendly visits, gestures and statements towards Arab leaders in the Gulf, positioning Israel for what appears to be a more overt alliance with Gulf states, from Oman to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The Palestinian struggle for statehood, meanwhile, has been “cast to the margins” by the leaders of these same Gulf countries, said Saeed Khan, a senior lecturer in Near East studies at Wayne State University in Detroit.

“It seems as though, among the Saudis, UAE and to a certain degree Oman, they are clearly putting their stock with the official Israeli political line. They’re either turning a blind eye or seemingly not at all interested in the Palestinian issue,” Khan told Middle East Eye on Thursday.

Khan’s comments come as Israel’s intelligence and transport minister called for a deeper partnership between his country and its neighbours on the Arabian Peninsula, including in the fields of transportation and tourism.

“In my view cooperation between Israel and the Gulf states can and should be expanded,” Yisrael Katz told Reuters via email on Thursday, a few days after he returned from a visit to Oman earlier this week. “Israel also has a lot to offer when it comes to water desalination and irrigation, agriculture and medicine.”

Katz wasn’t the only Israeli leader to visit the Omani capital, Muscat, in recent weeks. Late last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a surprise visit to the Gulf country, meeting with its leader, Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Israel’s Sports and Culture Minister Miri Regev was also in the nearby UAE last month, where she met Emirati officials and toured the world’s third-largest mosque, in Abu Dhabi. Khan said leaders in Israel and the Gulf are experiencing a “sense of empowerment” thanks to US President Donald Trump.

He explained that Washington has given a green light to its allies in both places to work jointly and openly on their common goal: building a united front opposed to Iran.

At the midway mark of the US president’s first term in office, and with Trump facing investigations at home related to possible collusion between his election campaign team and Russia, there is a “moment of desperation” to strengthen ties between Israel and Gulf countries, Khan said.

“There’s an expedited timeframe by which the Gulf states and Israel are operating in order to provide a united front and exert maximum pressure against Iran,” he told MEE.

    The Palestinian issue
The White House has also been readying a peace plan to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, dubbed by the Trump administration as the “deal of the century”. But Palestinian leaders have already signalled that they will not accept Washington’s proposal.

US Calls for the End to the Saudi-Backed War in Yemen | Inside Story

  • Al Jazeera English Published on Nov 1, 2018
Enough is enough – is the message from the United States to the warring parties in Yemen. The Americans want a halt to more than three years of combat between Houthi rebels and the Saudi and UAE led coalition supporting Yemeni government troops. The US Defense Secretary is calling for a ceasefire by the end of the month. The United Nations is welcoming the US appeal to replace combat with compromise. But the American message to Saudi and Emirati allies could fall on deaf ears. Thousands of reinforcements have been sent this week to the rebel-held city of Hodeidah – its the major port for the massive amounts of food and aid needed to keep millions of Yemenis from starving to death. But with many failed peace efforts in the past, will this time be any different?

‘If Iran Can’t Export Oil No-One in Middle East Will,’ Tehran Warns

  • ‘If Iran Can’t Export Oil No-One in Middle East Will,’ Tehran Warns
    by https://www.rt.com/
Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for oil shipments from the Middle East. The warning comes in response to the US, which is trying to cut off Iranian crude exports.

After pulling out of a landmark international deal curtailing Tehran’s nuclear program, Washington has ordered countries to cease buying oil from Iran by November 4 or face secondary US sanctions. Major European energy corporations like France’s Total have already pulled out of Iran.

Iran’s supreme leader’s senior adviser for international affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati said his country will retaliate.

“The most transparent, complete and prompt response was given by Mr [Hassan] Rouhani, the Iranian president, in his last trip to Europe. The response was clear: if Iran cannot export oil through the Persian Gulf, no-one will do this,”
Velayati said, speaking at the Valdai discussion club in Russia. “Either everyone will export, or no-one,” he added.

Most of the crude exported from Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Iraq passes through the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passageway between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

It’s also the route for nearly all the liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments from the world’s largest exporter, Qatar. The UAE and Saudi Arabia have sought to find ways to bypass the strait, but there is no real alternative for it.

Passing through the strait has been dangerous from time to time in the past. The US Fifth Fleet, based in Bahrain, is dedicated to protecting commercial ships in the area, but there have been tensions between Tehran and Washington in the strait. In early 2008 the US said Iranian boats had threatened its warships.

Iran UN Envoy: Killing Kids War Tactic of Israel, Saudi, UAE, Daesh

  • PressTV Published on Jul 10, 2018
Iran’s envoy to the United Nations says all those who commit crimes against children in armed conflicts must be brought to justice. Gholamali Khoshroo said Israel’s killing of Palestinian children amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity. While condemning the Israeli brutality, Khoshroo said the deliberate killing of children is a war tactic which is also pursued by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Daesh. He added that these countries kill children to pressure their enemies. The Iranian diplomat noted that the most effective way to protect children against such crimes is to prevent or curb armed conflicts.

Kuwait, UAE And Bahrain Urge Citizens to Leave Lebanon Immediately

  • Kuwait And Bahrain Urge Citizens to Leave Lebanon Immediately
    by https://southfront.org/
Following Saudi Arabia’s decision to order its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry made a similar announcement.

The Kuwait News Agency quoted the foreign ministry’s statement saying that the move “contributed the step to circumstances experienced by Lebanon at the moment, as well as a precautionary measure against any negative imapct that might take place.”

The statement also urged citizens to avoid traveling to Lebanon. A similar decision was made by Bahrain. The country’s foreign ministry added that its citizens were banned from traveling to Lebanon, as well.

This might be another sign of the upcoming conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which would likely be backed up by the Saudi-led block.
  • Saudi, UAE, Kuwait urge citizens to leave Lebanon
    by http://www.aljazeera.com/
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have advised their citizens not to travel to Lebanon and urged those who are in the country to leave as soon as possible.

Saudi Arabia’s official news agency SPA quoted a source in the foreign ministry on Thursday as saying: “Due to the situations in the Republic of Lebanon, the official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Saudi nationals visiting or residing in Lebanon are asked to leave the country as soon as possible.

“The Kingdom advised all citizens not to travel to Lebanon from any other international destinations.”

Only hours later, Kuwait and the UAE also urged its nationals to leave Lebanon immediately. Bahrain – an ally of Saudi Arabia – had already ordered its citizens to leave Lebanon on Sunday, with the Bahraini foreign ministry issuing a travel advisory that cited “safety considerations”.

    Leave of absence
Lebanon has been on edge after the sudden resignation of Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri, who announced his departure while on a visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday. His whereabouts have since been unknown. However, officials told Al Jazeera on Thursday that Hariri may be under house arrest or temporarily detained in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

US & UK Complicit in Saudi Crimes in Yemen

  • Published on Oct 9, 2016
The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has strongly condemned Saturday’s deadly attack on a funeral ceremony in Yemen by Saudi warplanes. Ali Shamkhani described the US as a complicit in the crime. He believes Washington should be held to account over the incident as the Saudis are bombing the Yemeni people using American weapons. Shamkhani added that continued western arms sales to Riyadh enable the Saudi regime and the United Arab Emirates to push ahead with their aggression against Yemen. Iran’s defense minister has also condemned the Saudi bombing of the funeral in Sana’a. Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan said the quote-fanatic and aggressive regime of Saudi Arabia has committed an unforgivable crime by targeting the ceremony. Dehghan urged other countries to break their silence on the brutal attack. He says Saudi Arabia must be taken to an international court for committing war crimes in Yemen. Human Rights Advocate Fadi al-Qadi says the US and the UK are complicit in Saudi crimes in Yemen because they provide weapons that Riyadh uses to bombard Yemeni people.

Saudi Mission in Syria Rests on US-Led Coalition Decision (ie. Under the Orders of US-Pentagram)

  • Published on Feb 14, 2016
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir made the remarks in a press conference with his Swiss counterpart in Riyadh. Jubeir said the kingdom is to consult with the so-called coalition on the scale and the timing of its possible ground deployment in Syria. He said the details are yet to be worked out. US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter had earlier said he expected Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to send Special Forces to Syria. On Sunday, Riyadh confirmed it has deployed aircraft at an airbase near Turkey’s southern borders. Turkey, a NATO member, has given the green light to Riyadh for a possible military intervention in Syria.

UAE Ready to Send Ground Troops into Syria

  • Published on Feb 7, 2016
Foreign Minister Anwar Gargash says a real campaign against the terror group has to include a ground force. The UAE seems to be following in the footsteps of Saudi Arabia which has recently called for a ground incursion into Syria. On Saturday, Syria’s top diplomat Walid al-Muallem warned that aggressors will be sent home in coffins. Russia, which has been conducting airstrikes against terrorists’ positions in Syria, has described such a move as a declaration of war. Iran has also reacted to the announcement, saying Saudi Arabia’s troop deployment to Syria sounds more like a political joke.
