Kremlin Enters War Of Words With Pompeo After Nuke-Capable Bombers Deployed To Venezuela

  • Kremlin Enters War Of Words With Pompeo After Nuke-Capable Bombers Deployed To Venezuela
    by Tyler Durden, https://www.zerohedge.com/
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed Russia for sending a pair of long-range nuclear capable Tu-160 bombers “halfway around the world” to Venezuela in comments posted to Twitter late Monday. The Kremlin confirmed the jets touched down at Venezuela’s Simon Bolivar International Airport in the capital of Caracas previously that day.

“The Russian and Venezuelan people should see this for what it is: two corrupt governments squandering public funds, and squelching liberty and freedom while their people suffer,”
     Pompeo stated.

The Kremlin, which has described the flights as training exercises and part of Russia’s right to make “regular flights over the international waters,” responded by describing Pompeo’s statement as “an utterly inappropriate comment” and his weighing in as “indeed very undiplomatic,” according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Trump Has Been Broken by the Military/Security Complex

  • Trump Has Been Broken by the Military/Security Complex
    by Paul Craig Roberts, https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/
In order to protect himself from the military/security complex, President Trump has abandoned his intention of normalizing relations with Russia. Just as the neoconservative ideology needs US hegemony, the military/security complex needs an enemy to justify the $1,000 billion annual budget. The Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama regimes have crafted Russia into that enemy. Trump intended to change that, but he has been prevented.

Russiagate is the orchestration used to force President Trump into submission.

As Stephen Cohen, a few others and I have emphasized, the risk of nuclear war from the orchestrated confrontation with Russia is the highest ever with the situation today being more dangerous than during the Cold War. During the Cold War, both Washington and Moscow worked to reduce tensions and to build trust, but in the 21st century Washington has destroyed trust.

The Russians have been very patient and have avoided belligerence in response to Washington’s insults and provocations, but now they announce “Russian patience is at an end.”

Andrey Kortunov blames Trump, but the problem is the neoconservatives, the military/security complex, and presstitute media, a combination that has proved itself to be too powerful of a combination for a mere president. The Democratic Party and the liberal/progressive/left are complicit in the tragedy. They have permitted their hate to subvert judgment with the consequence that nuclear war again threatens life on earth.

UK Elite ‘Horrified’ “Russian Aggression” Fairytale Starts to Crumble – Journo

  • UK Elite ‘Horrified’ “Russian Aggression” Fairytale Starts to Crumble – Journo
    by https://sputniknews.com/
UK media and parliamentarians have voiced concern over the fact that the UK’s largest online pharmacy, which has links to the NHS, has been ‘caught’ advertising with Russia’s RT television network. Sputnik has discussed another anti-Russia campaign spread in the UK media with political commentator and journalist Ollie Richardson.

Sputnik: The Telegraph article’s headline says that the company was ‘found’ advertising on a Russian channel. Is this a crime? What is essentially wrong with the company’s business cooperation with RT?

    Ollie Richardson:
According to the logic of Westminster, spending UK taxes on financing jihadists in Libya — one of which came to Manchester and committed an act of terrorism in 2017 — is not a crime. So in this respect, the pro-Tory Telegraph is simply fulfilling its regular role of a propagandist outlet. The truth is that even if all UK-registered companies were banned from doing business with Russian state media, Downing Street would find some other nit to pick. Maybe the cleaner of an NHS hospital watched RT once — this would be enough, according to London, to brand her as an “agent of the Kremlin”.

Former US State and Defense Department Officials Discuss Prospects for Nuclear War

  • Former US State and Defense Department Officials Discuss Prospects for Nuclear War
    by J. L’Heureau, https://www.wsws.org/
On December 3, Foreign Affairs, published by the US. Council on Foreign Relations, and Scientific American hosted a panel discussion entitled “Do Nuclear Weapons Matter?” Gideon Rose, the editor for Foreign Affairs and one of the three participating panelists, explained that the panel’s purpose, over two-and-a-half decades since the end of the Cold War, was to discuss the contemporary significance of nuclear weapons.

The three panelists all have deep ties to the US State and Defense Departments. Rose himself was a staff member of the National Security Council under the Clinton administration in the mid-1990s. As the editor of Foreign Affairs since 2010, he has overseen and taken a direct part in the debate over US foreign policy under both Democratic and Republican administrations.

The second panelist, Elbridge Colby, served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense from 2017-2018. He is one of the principal architects of the latest US National Defense Strategy, which advocates a shift of US imperialism’s focus away from the “war on terror” and towards “great power competition,” i.e., war with Russia and China.

Colby is the author of an article published recently in Foreign Affairs titled “If you want peace, prepare for nuclear war,” a modern adaptation of the Latin phrase, si vis pacem, para bellum (if you want peace, prepare for war). In it he argues for the US adopting a strategy to fight a “limited” nuclear war.

The third panelist, Nina Tannenwald, served in the US State Department under the Obama administration.

In introducing the panel discussion, the event’s moderator, Curtis Brainard, Managing Editor of Scientific American, stressed that they all could agree that “a lot has changed in the last 10 years, and that the specter of nuclear conflict…has come back to center stage.” He posed the question, “After so many years of détente, what happened?”

A large portion of the forum centered on the rapidly deteriorating relationship between the US and Russia on one hand, and the US and China on the other. Tannenwald argued that one of the principal reasons the world is experiencing a new “qualitative arms race” is Russia’s “bringing us back to the old geopolitics.”

Colby, while agreeing that “Russia is the more pointed reason that nuclear weapons have reemerged in the international security environment,” argued that China was the cause for “the more fundamental, structural shift” in U.S. foreign and nuclear policy.

The Russia Investigation is about Criminalizing Peace

  • The Russia Investigation is about Criminalizing Peace
    by david gornoski, http://www.ronpaulinstitute.org/
“For those who long wondered why throughout the presidential campaign Trump could not bring himself to say a critical word about Russian President Vladimir Putin, we now know the answer: Trump was hoping to do business in Russia, and doing so would require the approval of Putin.” – USA Today Opinion

Make no mistake, the mainstream left and state serving-media voices are trying to gaslight an entire generation into believing any candidate that wants peace with Russia may be a foreign conspirator worthy of prison, shame, and family persecution.

Former congressman Ron Paul, as a peace presidential candidate, did not regurgitate war propaganda against Russia either. Neither did Senator Rand Paul when he ran. What Paul hotel do you see in Moscow? Yet for future generations, many in the media want to ensure no such candidate ever runs again without baked-in misgivings of treason and criminality.

No serious observer of recent events can honestly believe the mono-narrative the old media, including “hard news” outfits, has tried to curate about the 2016 election. However, the aim of the last two years of conspiratorial hysteria has been to sear into the minds of low information voters suspicion of any successful political figure who even half challenges the conventional wisdom that America must perpetually spend hundreds of billions on NATO, collect citizens’ private conversations, sanction Russian citizens, and intervene in Russia’s local border disputes.

This is nothing new. When Martin Luther King Jr. used his national spotlight to challenge the moral authority of the Vietnam War, he was denounced as a subversive agent of enemy foreign powers.

Why Russia Won’t Invade the Ukraine, the Baltic Statelets or Anybody Else

  • Why Russia Won’t Invade the Ukraine, the Baltic Statelets or Anybody Else
    by , http://www.unz.com/
The AngloZionist propaganda machine is constantly warning us that Russia is about to invade some country. The list of candidates for invasion is long and ranges from Norway to the Ukraine and includes the Baltic statelets, Poland and even countries further West. Of course, we are also told that NATO and the US are here to prevent that. Well, thank God for them, right?

But what is conspicuously missing from this narrative is a discussion of the possible Russian motives for such a military move. Typically, we are merely told that Russia has broken the European post-Cold War order and borders by “annexing” Crimea and by sending military forces into the Donbass. Anybody with an IQ at room temperature or above by now realizes that both of these claims are total bunk. The ones who indeed broke the post-Cold War international order and borders were the NATO member states when they used military force, in complete illegality, to break-up Yugoslavia. As for the people of Crimea, they had the opportunity to vote about their future in a referendum, very much unlike the inhabitants of Kosovo which had no such opportunity. As for the 08.08.08 war, even the Europeans who eventually, and very reluctantly, agreed that it was, in fact, Saakashvili who started this conflict, not Russia.

But let’s set all this aside and assume that the Russian leaders would not hesitate to use military force again if it was to their advantage. Let’s assume that, yes, the Russians are up to no good and that they might well try to bite-off some other piece of land somewhere in Europe.

Such an assumption would immediately raise a crucial question: why would the Russians want to do that?

Russia-Ukraine Conflict: U.S. Military Sends Putin a Warning with ‘Extraordinary Flight’ Over Ukraine

  • More Ukraine & western propaganda about Russian aggression!
  • Russia-Ukraine Conflict: U.S. Military Sends Putin a Warning with ‘Extraordinary Flight’ Over Ukraine
    by , https://www.newsweek.com/
The U.S. military carried out an “extraordinary flight” over Ukraine on Thursday as a show of force after Russian forces attacked Ukrainian navy ships on November 25.

“Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukrainian naval vessels in the Black Sea near the Kerch Strait is a dangerous escalation in a pattern of increasingly provocative and threatening activity,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

“The United States seeks a better relationship with Russia, but this cannot happen while its unlawful and destabilizing actions continue in Ukraine and elsewhere,” the statement added.

The attack took place as the Ukrainian navy ships were entering the Sea of Azov via the Kerch Strait. Russia, which has been making it harder for Ukraine’s military to access the ports near the Crimean Peninsula, claims that the Ukrainians were trying to provoke its forces. But independent analysts used open source data and radio intercepts and determined that Russia had pursued the Ukrainians into international waters. What’s more, the researchers determined that Russia was attempting to use lethal force.

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has said that Russia has 80,000 troops stationed in the parts of Ukraine occupied by Russia and is preparing for a ground invasion. Moscow annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 and has been backing pro-Russian separatists in the eastern part of the country known as the Donbass. Some analysts say that the U.S. will need to do more than conduct “extraordinary flight” if it’s going to counter Russian aggression toward Ukraine.

Russia Holds Naval War Games, Missile Drills in Black Sea near Ukraine

  • Russia Holds Naval War Games, Missile Drills in Black Sea near Ukraine
    by Edwin Mora, https://www.breitbart.com/
Russia is holding naval war exercises and surface-to-air missile drills in the Black Sea region amid tensions with Ukraine and a U.S.-led alliance over the capture of three Ukrainian naval vessels and their crew off the coast of Moscow-annexed Crimea last month, the Kremlin’s defense ministry reportedly announced on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg reportedly declared that the U.S.-led military alliance had intensified its presence in the Black Sea region in response to what he described as “Russia’s aggressive actions.” “We will continue to assess our presence in the region,” he proclaimed.

Citing a statement from the ministry, Reuters reported on Wednesday:

Two submarines, the Rostov-on-Don B-237 and the Stary Oskol B-262, practiced emergency deployments for detecting, accompanying and destroying sea and coastal targets with rocket fire…Submarine crews from the Black Sea fleet were also due to practice deep dives and to work on techniques such as emergency surfacing, it said … Separately, Pantsir medium-range surface-to-air missile systems in the east of Crimea practiced detecting, identifying and shooting down aerial targets, Interfax news agency cited a spokesman for the Black Sea Fleet as saying.

This week, Fox News, citing satellite images, reported that the Russian military deployed additional S-400 surface-to-air missile batteries to Crimea.

Russia Claims It Chased U.S. Destroyer Out Of Its Territorial Waters

  • Russia Claims It Chased U.S. Destroyer Out Of Its Territorial Waters
    by Tyler Durden, https://www.zerohedge.com/
Moscow is seeking to downplay yesterday’s incident in the Sea of Japan, which saw an American destroyer sail through waters claimed by Russia for the first time since the Soviet era in 1987, and has released new details of the incident. Russia has further framed the incident as one in which the American ship was essentially chased out of the area.

The U.S. Pacific Fleet confirmed that the guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell sailed “in the vicinity of” Peter the Great Bay on Wednesday  a body of water off the Russian port city of Vladivostok — in order to “challenge Russia’s excessive maritime claims and uphold the rights, freedoms and lawful uses of the sea enjoyed by the United States and other nations,” according to a Navy official statement. The United States does not recognize Russia’s claim to the waters in question.

PUTIN FLEXES MUSCLES: Russia to Hold Naval War Games And Surface-to-Air Missile Drills in Black Sea Region Amid Ukraine And NATO Tensions

  • PUTIN FLEXES MUSCLES: Russia to Hold Naval War Games And Surface-to-Air Missile Drills in Black Sea Region Amid Ukraine And NATO Tensions
    by Patrick Knox, https://www.thesun.co.uk/
Submarines, warships and sophisticated air defences are being tested just in case war breaks out with Ukraine which drags in NATO

RUSSIA is plotting major war games in the Black Sea as tension spirals with Ukraine and the West over the capture of three Ukrainian naval ships.

Major naval and surface-to-air missile drills are underway amid a war scare with its neighbour and NATO. Two submarines, the Rostov-on-Don B-237 and the Stary Oskol B-262, practised emergency deployments for detecting, accompanying and destroying sea and coastal targets with rocket fire, the Defence Ministry said. Submarine crews from the Black sea fleet were also due to practice deep dives and to work on techniques such as emergency surfacing, it said.

The statement did not give a start or end date for the drills or say if the submarine exercises were part of larger-scale drills in the Black Sea and on the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014. A navigation warning to shipping published by Turkey’s navy said that “firing exercises” were expected in the region from December 3 to 9.

It comes as a startling study by the The Human Security Centre concluded Russia would be able to may be able to “overrun vulnerable areas of NATO territory” in a matter of hours
