Emmanuel Macron ‘Pushing for Federal EUROPEAN EMPIRE’ Declares UK Academic in SHOCK Claim

  • Emmanuel Macron ‘Pushing for Federal EUROPEAN EMPIRE’ Declares UK Academic in SHOCK Claim
    by MATT DRAKE, https://www.express.co.uk/
EMMANUEL Macron is pushing for a “European empire” in his ideological pursuit of a unified, monetised European Union but his pursuit will cause the trade bloc to break apart, according to an academic in shocking claims.

The French President boldly claimed the European Union is a haven from the dangers of the world and even claimed France was willing to contribute more to the bloc as the UK leaves, but if the union reforms in a suitable way to Paris.

But Doctor Russell Foster from the Department of European & International Studies at King’s College London, believes Europe is in the “eye of the storm” and everything could soon fall apart – especially due to Macron’s vision of Europe. He said: “Europe needs enormous reforms or it’s going to break apart.

“We are currently in the eye of the storm, so Europe at the moment looks relatively peaceful, especially in the aftermath of the Eurozone crisis, the migration crisis, the situation in Ukraine.

‘European Civil War’ – Macron Criticized after Going Full Napoleon in Strasbourg

  • ‘European Civil War’ – Macron Criticized after Going Full Napoleon in Strasbourg
    by https://sputniknews.com/
The French President has been widely criticised after his call for pan-European unity provoked division and dissent. Emmanuel Macron has laid out his vision for the future of the EU at Strasbourg in characteristically contradictory fashion.  While praising the EU’s “unique model” for pan-European unity he also described Europe as being in a state of “civil war” due “a context of division and indeed doubt within Europe.”

Unable to make up his mind whether the EU is a force for unity or division, Macron went on to say that, “Brexit continues. It is still being discussed and worked on, here I would pay tribute to the work being performed by Michel Barnier.”  He continued, telling over 700 MEPs, “But there is doubt in a number of European countries.  Month after month we’re seeing views and sensibilities emerge which call into certain fundamental…  There seems to be a sort of European civil war.  National selfishness and egotism seems to take precedence over what brings us together.”

Describing the emerging nationalism as a “deadly tendency which might lead our continent into the abyss,” he elaborated, “There is a fascination with the illiberal and that’s growing all the time. So Europe has an ever greater responsibility.”  The French President praised the increasingly fractured EU as, “a treasure which we have made come alive and kept alive for 70 years”.

Russia: Alleged Chemical Assault in Syria Highly Likely Staged by Britain

  • PressTV Published on Apr 17, 2018
The Russian representative at the global chemical arms watchdog says it is highly likely that the alleged chemical attack in Syria was stage by British intelligence services. Alexander Shulgin said that Western countries led by the United States don’t want any investigation because they already made their decision by launching attacks on Syria. He said that the US, Britain and France are afraid that the investigation team proves their false allegation. This comes as experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are set to travel to the Syrian city of Douma on Wednesday to investigate the allegation. The U-S and its allies claim that Syria used chemical agents in Douma two weeks ago that killed dozens of people. Damascus and Moscow however deny any such attack.

Iran’s President Says West Doesn’t Want Stability

  • PressTV Published on Apr 15, 2018
Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has described Saturday’s missile strikes on Syria as an aggressive act aimed at raising the morale of defeated terrorists in the country. During a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Rouhani noted that the US-led attacks on Syria showed that Washington has direct ties with the terrorists in Syria. He said that when the US felt that the terrorists are losing a strategic region like Eastern Ghouta, it reacted by conducting missile strikes on Syria. The Iranian president noted that the US, France and Britain do not want stability in Syria. Putin said for his part that further missile attacks would lead to chaos in international relations. The two presidents agreed that the missile strikes have damaged the prospect of a political resolution to the conflict in the Arab country.

Syria Intercepted Many of 100+ Missiles Launched at Its Civilian, Military Objects – Russia

  • Was an agreement made between USA and Russia? Ie. US-Pentagram: “You don’t sink my warships, I won’t bomb Russian property/personnel.”
  • Syria Intercepted Many of 100+ Missiles Launched at Its Civilian, Military Objects – Russia
    by https://www.rt.com/
The majority of rockets fired in Syria by the UK, US, and France were intercepted by Syrian air defense systems, the Russian Defense Ministry said. Russian air defense units were not involved in repelling the attack.

The warplanes and vessels of the US and its allies launched over 100 cruise missiles and air-surface missiles on Syrian civil and military facilities, the ministry stated.

The strikes were conducted by two US ships stationed in the Red Sea, with tactical air support from the Mediterranean and Rockwell B-1 Lancer bombers from Al-Tanf coalition airbase in Syria’s Homs province, according to the statement.

Syrian Al-Dumayr Military Airport, located 40 km north-east from Damascus, was attacked by 12 cruise missiles, the Russian MoD confirmed, adding that all missiles were intercepted by Syrian air defense systems.

To repel the attack, Damascus deployed Soviet-made surface-to-air missile systems, including S-125 (NATO reporting name: SA-3 Goa), S-200 (SA-5 Gammon), 2K12 Kub (SA-6 Gainful) and Buk.

Russia did not deploy its air defense systems located in Syria to intercept the American, British, and French missiles. Earlier, the ministry issued a statement saying that none of the missiles launched by the US and its allies reached the Russian air defense zones that shield facilities in the port city of Tartus and Khmeimim Air Base.

Syrian air defenses were scrambled to confront the joint American-French-British intervention that started in the early hours of Saturday. The trio launched a series of strikes on Syria in retaliation for the alleged chemical attack by the Assad government in the town of Douma, 10 kilometers from Damascus, last week. The strikes were announced before a team of investigators from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) was scheduled to reach Douma to determine whether the attack had indeed taken place.

Russia Responds: “We Are Being Threatened. A Predesigned Scenario Is Being Implemented”

  • Russia Responds: “We Are Being Threatened. A Predesigned Scenario Is Being Implemented”
    by Tyler Durden, https://www.zerohedge.com/
After the a joint force of US, French and UK fighter jets and ship launched an attack which as Mattis said, “used a little over double the number of weapons this year than we used last year”, and amid unconfirmed reports that the Syrian air force managed to shoot down one or more Tomahawk missiles, the question everyone was asking is whether Russia has responded, and if so, how.

The answer, for now at least, is that Russia has not activated a response, although that may soon change.  Here is the statement from Russia’s ambassador to the US, Anataloy Antonov, posted on Facebook:

The worst apprehensions have come true. Our warnings have been left unheard.

A pre-designed scenario is being implemented. Again, we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences.

All responsibility for them rests with Washington, London and Paris.
Insulting the President of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible. The U.S. – the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons – has no moral right to blame other countries.

Despite repeated warnings from Russia, President Trump ordered American forces, along with their British and French allies, to strike military targets in Syria on Friday night; as noted previously, during a press conference late on Friday, General Joseph Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Russian military operating in Syria was not notified about the American targets in advance told reporters following the attacks.

The US “specifically identified” targets to “mitigate the risk of Russian forces being involved,” Dunford said. “We used the normal deconfliction channel to deconflict airspace. We did not coordinate targets.”

While Trump said that the purpose of the US actions is to “establish a strong deterrent against the production, spread, and use of chemical weapons,” Antonov reminded that “the US – the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons – has no moral right to blame other countries.”

The combined decision by the US and its allies to strike Syria comes after Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Major-General Igor Konashenkov presented evidence claiming that last Saturday’s alleged chemical attack in Douma was orchestrated.

The attack also comes just hours before experts from the UN Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) were scheduled to visit Douma on Saturday to determine whether chemical weapons had indeed been used there. That particular trip is now moot.

Trump Weighs Syria Options, Russia Envoy Says He ‘Cannot Exclude’ War with US

..

  • Trump Weighs Syria Options, Russia Envoy Says He ‘Cannot Exclude’ War with US
    by Jeff MasonMichelle Nichols, https://www.reuters.com/
WASHINGTON/UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – President Donald Trump and his national security aides on Thursday discussed U.S. options on Syria, where he has threatened missile strikes in response to a suspected poison gas attack, as a Russian envoy voiced fears of wider conflict between Washington and Moscow.

Worries about a confrontation between Russia, Syria’s big ally, and the West have been running high since Trump said on Wednesday that missiles “will be coming” in response to the attack in the Syrian town of Douma on April 7, and lambasted Moscow for standing by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Trump tempered those remarks on Thursday and even as he consulted allies such and Britain and France, who could join in any U.S.-led strikes on Syria, there were signs of efforts to prevent the crisis from spiraling out of control.

“Never said when an attack on Syria would take place. Could be very soon or not so soon at all!” Trump wrote on Twitter, raising the prospect that an attack might not be as imminent as he seemed to suggest the day before.

Macron and Verhofstadt in NEW EUROPE PLOT: Pair to Meet Over Future of EU

  • Macron and Verhofstadt in NEW EUROPE PLOT: Pair to Meet Over Future of EU
    by CHLOE KERR, https://www.express.co.uk/
FRENCH President Emmanuel Macron is to meet with Guy Verhofstadt just days after the Belgian MEP called for a “new, dynamic, centralist Europe”.

The two men will discuss Mr Macron’s speech at the upcoming plenary session in Strasbourg next week. The French PM will be discussing the “future of Europe” amid his plans to further integrate the EU, reform the election system and introduce a eurozone finance minister.

Last year, the French President set out his desire for a common budget, a finance minister, coordination on issues like tax and a parliament for the 19 members of the eurozone.  The French president has said that 2018 will be “decisive” for Europe as he pushes forward plans for EU integration.

Mr Verhofstadt, who is the leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) group addressed Mr Macron’s En Marche’s event in Brussels last week in a bid to forge closer ties with the president’s group. He said: “If we want to change Europe, it is time for a new dynamic, new energy and a strong European centrist movement that has the courage to break the status quo and move Europe forward.

“For too long the unholy alliance between the EPP and the S&D have blocked progress. “It is up to us now to give Europe a new purpose and show people that Europe is worth fighting for.”

“Imminent Announcement” Of US Action In Syria Coming Amid Expectations Of Air Strikes “Within Hours”

  • “Imminent Announcement” Of US Action In Syria Coming Amid Expectations Of Air Strikes “Within Hours”
    by Tyler Durden, https://www.zerohedge.com/
Update: FoxNews just reported that an announcement on US Action in Syria is imminent.

Reports are pouring in of US and French aircraft headed towards Syria for what we assume is a major operation if true. As of now, these reports remains unconfirmed:

Amid the loud war drums, the EU’s air traffic control body, Eurocontrol, has issued a 72-hour Rapid Alert Notification to flight operators in the eastern Mediterranean – warning of possible rocket launches into Syria.

Due to the possible launch of air strikes into Syria with air-to-ground and / or cruise missiles within the next 72 hours, and the possibility of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment, due consideration needs to be taken when planning flight operations in the Eastern Mediterranean / Nicosia FIR area,” reads the alert.

“Massive Explosions” Heard Above Syria Amid Reports Of Fighter Jets Airstrikes; Pentagon Denies

  • “Massive Explosions” Heard Above Syria Amid Reports Of Fighter Jets Airstrikes; Pentagon Denies
    by Tyler Durden, https://www.zerohedge.com/
Update: confusion, of course. According to Syria’s TV channels, there has been an “aggression on T4 airfield with several strikes, likely to be by the US”. Meanwhile Pentagon officials deny any  US involvement.

Which suggests that Israel (and/or France) may have taken the initiative to bomb Syria on its (their) own, although it is unclear if with or without Trump’s blessing:
    ….
An interesting IDF tweet from February suggests Israel has had its eye on T4 for a while: “For a long time Iran and the Quds Force have been operating, with the backing of Syrian forces and the approval of the Syrian regime,  from the Syrian T-4 Airbase near Tadmor.”

Eurozone on Verge of DEBT-POOLING: Macron Urges Spain to Back Controversial Plans

  • Eurozone on Verge of DEBT-POOLING: Macron Urges Spain to Back Controversial Plans
    by DAVID DAWKINS, https://www.express.co.uk/
PRESIDENT Emmanuel Macron has been forced to act in his effort to further integrate Eurozone finances after sending finance minister Bruno Le Maire to reaffirm Spanish commitment to French federalist reform.

The hasty dispatch of the Mr Macron’s finance chief to Madrid this week comes against a backdrop of suspicion over greater Eurozone integration in Italy, and harsh words from the Czech Republic.

While Italy looks to scrap the controversial EU-imposed Fornero law, the Czech Republic has rejected contributing to the bailout of Greece before it enters the Eurozone. However, the French and Spanish are very much pulling in the other direction.

Mr Macron – dubbed the “new leader of Europe” after his election victory last year – has made no secret of his plans to install a eurozone budget, a eurozone finance minister, a single deposit-guarantee fund to complete the banking union and tax harmonisation, all paving the way for the potential pooling of Eurozone debt.

With Spain’s economy in doubt over the ongoing crisis in Catalonia, French finance minister Bruno Le Maire was the first to visit new Spanish economy chief Roman Escolano on Thursday.

Top of the agenda was said to be Mr Macron’s campaign for a Eurozone budget to bolster the bloc against a future economic crises. Mr Macron is not alone. A potential Eurozone budget has been championed by head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde who recently called on leaders to set up a “rainy day fund” as they battle “forceful” economic “headwinds”.

In a speech in Berlin, Ms Lagarde alluded to the need for the Eurozone to protest against the so-called “populism” as seen in Brexit and the Italian elections, and the protectionism of President Trump’s trade tariffs.

On the issue of a deeper fiscal integration, she promised that, “within the next six months or so there could be a meeting of minds on the general principles and timeline”.
