Kushner and Mossad in Jordan: Israeli-Arab Secret Meeting in Aqaba Revealed — Arabs Have Sold Out the Palestinian People to the Deal of Century

Note: the idea of expanding Gaza into the Sinai desert is BOGUS. The Zionists want to expel all Palestinians in Gaza into the Sinai desert.

  • Kushner and Mossad in Jordan: Israeli-Arab Secret Meeting in Aqaba Revealed
    by SyndiGate.info, http://www.albawaba.com/, 28 June 2018
He was called the “Godfather” of the US proposed peace plan for Middle East, Jared Kushner and Trump’s advisor on Israel, Jason Greenblatt had arranged a secret meeting for Arab Intelligence Chiefs and their Israeli counterpart in Jordan’s southern city of Aqaba to discuss peace in the region.

France’s Intelligence Online website and Israel’s Channel 10 reported the secret meeting that took place on June 17, 2018 at the request of the American envoys, Greenblatt and Trump’s advisor Kushner on the peace process in the Middle East, known as “Deal of the Century”.

    ….
The meeting came one day ahead of the secret meeting that was officially announced later between the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Jordan on latest developments in the region and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Lately, talks on the so-called “deal of the century” and the changes expected to be made on Jerusalem’s status for Palestinians have been rising. It has some Arab leaders expressing their implicit acceptance to the deal while others are facing mounting pressures to submit the plan.

Last week, Kushner, the broker of the deal, and Greenblatt began their journey in Saudi Arabia, before going to Qatar, Egypt, Jordan and Israel to arrange the plan without any Palestinian engagement, although the plan concerns Palestinians more than anyone else.

Israeli media reports following the meetings suggest that many Arab countries said they will back the peace deal “regardless of whether the Palestinian Authority is on board”, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and ‎the United Arab Emirates, Israel Hayom reported. It also suggested that the plan will most-likely be presented in August 2018.

Kerry Warns of War After U.S. Exit from Nuclear Deal

  • Kerry Warns of War After U.S. Exit from Nuclear Deal
    by https://www.tehrantimes.com/
Former secretary of state John Kerry said on Friday that there is chance of conflict with Iran after the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

By pulling out of the accord, President Donald Trump has “made it more likely that there will be conflict in the region”, AFP reported him as saying at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Kerry led diplomatic efforts that resulted in the 2015 nuclear agreement. Recalling what he went through to open discussions with Iran, he said Ayatollah Khamenei was “dead set” against negotiations with the U.S. and talk were only achieved through enormous diplomatic efforts.

The former U.S. chief diplomat called the nuclear deal the most “transparent” agreement in the world. “This is the single, strongest, most far-reaching transparent agreement on face of the planet.”

Last month, Kerry berated Trump for having described the JCPOA as the “worst deal ever”, saying the U.S. president tries to “make things up” on Iran. Trump withdrew unilaterally from the nuclear deal in May which was endorsed by the UN Security Council resolution 2231. Since then, the remaining parties to the deal, including France, Germany, the UK, Russia, and China, are trying to convince Tehran to remain in the multilateral agreement.

Under the JCPOA, Iran is obliged to scale back its nuclear activities in exchange for termination of economic and financial sanctions. Twelve reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency have verified Iran’s compliance. The five other major powers to the deal — Britain, China, France, Germany, and Russia — have stuck by it.

To circumvent renewed U.S. sanctions, the European Union announced plans during the UN General Assembly week to create a new financial entity to facilitate transactions with Iran, a move that could also challenge U.S. domination of the international financial system.

He also revealed that both Saudi Arabia’s late King Abdullah and Egypt’s ousted president Hosni Mubarak told him that the U.S. should attack Iran. “When I met King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia he said ‘the only way to deal with Iran is bomb’. Also, when I met president Mubarak of Egypt he said ‘you have to bomb Iran’.”

According to Kerry, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also urged President Barack Obama to give the go-ahead for bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Kerry Reveals Egyptian, Saudi Ex-Leaders Pushed US to Attack Iran

  • Kerry Reveals Egyptian, Saudi Ex-Leaders Pushed US to Attack Iran
    by https://www.english.almanar.com.lb/
Former US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed alarm over a possible war with Iran following the US’s exit from the 2015 nuclear deal with Tehran, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

By pulling out of the deal, US President Donald Trump has “made it more likely that there will be conflict in the region because there are people there who would love to have the United States of America bomb Iran,” Kerry emphasized in an address to the Council on Foreign Relations on Friday.

He also revealed that both Saudi Arabia’s late King Abdullah and Egypt’s ousted president Hosni Mubarak told him that the US should attack Iran. According to Kerry, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also urged then-US President Barack Obama to give the go-ahead for bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Earlier, the former US Secretary of State warned that Washington’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal may undermine his country’s security and isolate the US from its European allies. Last month, Kerry berated Trump for having described the JCPOA as the “worst deal ever”, adding that the US President tries to “make things up” on Iran.

He rejected Trump’s allegations that the JCPOA was ostensibly weak and harmful to the US as false, adding that they could disrupt “the possibilities of international nuclear policy.” “Just saying that doesn’t make it that. This is the toughest agreement in terms of inspection, accountability — no country has had to do what Iran did in order to live up to this. But to just walk away?” Kerry said.

The Deal of the Century May Be Just Around the Corner

  • The Deal of the Century May Be Just Around the Corner
by Dr Amira Abo el-Fetouh, https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/
It has been over a year since Trump and Al-Sisi met in the White House and announced the deal of the century, without giving any details about it other than that it would work to stabilise the region, promote its development, and revive the economies of concerned countries (i.e. the countries surrounding Israel, formerly known as the buffer states, when the Arab states considered Israel an enemy and usurper of the Palestinian territories; before they went into the warm embrace of peace).

This is clearly to win over the people of the surrounding countries, i.e. to woo them or at least bribe them in an attempt to get them on board gain their support for this cursed deal. Therefore, some analysts have analysed the economic crises faced by Egypt and Jordan, the deterioration of the economic conditions of the people, the siege on the Gaza Strip, the security coordinating the Palestinian Authority’s inflexibility in dealing with those living in Gaza, refusing to pay the employees their salaries, failing to pay the tax revenues to the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of aid, and Trump’s latest threats to fund UNRWA or more accurately to liquidate UNRWA, which I will speak about in more detail later.

They, myself included, believe that all of these actions are deliberate and planned in an effort to complete the deal of the century and put pressure on the people and their lives, reaching the point of starvation. We also believe it aims to push these countries’ economies to the edge of decline, and then announce the deal of the century, as if it were a saviour or a magic wand that saves the area’s people from their hardships and resolve their crises. In this case, the people will welcome the deal and praise it, forgetting their principles and nationalism and completely disregarding Palestine, nationalism, and perhaps even Islam.
    ….
The report included detailed information about the deal of the century and suggested the implementation of the plan and the resettlement of Palestinians in Arab countries in exchange for paying hundreds of billions of dollars, as I mentioned earlier, to revive the economies of these countries and force them to accept the resettlement.

Furthermore, Trump, Netanyahu, and Bin Salman agreed on the plan, which stipulates the annexation of parts of Sinai and Jordan and resettling 3 million Palestinians, distributed as follows: 1 million Palestinians in Jordan and 2 million Palestinians on the Gaza border, extending to Al-Arish and across Rafah. They also plan to expand Gaza’s area by 7,000 kilometres, which includes the historically Palestinian side of Sinai, which Egypt obtained during the British Mandate. This 7,000 kilometres of land can absorb 5 million Palestinian refugees, and would be annexed to the Gaza Strip to establish the alleged Palestinian state. This state would be disarmed, would not have fixed geographical borders, and Abou Redis – a city in the South Sinai Governate – would be its capital. The right of return would fall, and Jerusalem would be completely forgotten.

Ancient Artifacts In Egypt That Egyptologists Do Not Understand

Egypt, Saudi Arabia Less Optimistic of Trump’s ‘Deal of Century’ to Bring Middle East Peace

  • Egypt, Saudi Arabia Less Optimistic of Trump’s ‘Deal of Century’ to Bring Middle East Peace
by Jacob Wirtschafter and Mina Nader, Special to USA TODAY, https://www.usatoday.com/
CAIRO – Even as the White House moves to unveil its’ “Deal of the Century” vision for Middle East peace, it’s increasingly clear that Arab enthusiasm to partner with President Donald Trump on a Palestinian-Israeli peace agreement is faltering.

The central thrust of the plan – which Arab leaders have reportedly asked the Trump administration to withhold – is to focus first on an economic development program for Gaza with similar incentives applying to the West Bank only if Palestinians concede permanent control over Jerusalem with large settlement zones for Israelis and a limited sovereignty arrangement that is several steps short of full independence.

But after a year of shuttle diplomacy and multiple meetings with leaders in Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Amman and Cairo, American envoys Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt have failed to convince Egypt or other key Arab states that the U.S. can broker a fair solution.

“Most of the Arab world – including Egypt and Saudi Arabia – have rejected the U.S.-proposed Deal of the Century,” said Saad El Gammal, head of the Egyptian parliament’s Arab Affairs Committee.

El Gamal and other critics of the emerging deal say detailed planning for a free trade zone or building power and desalination plants in Gaza before tackling the political questions of Jerusalem, borders and refugees is sidestepping core Arab concerns.

“Trump’s claims of ongoing support to the peace process are entirely false,” El Gammal said, pointing to the administration’s move of the U.S Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in May and American efforts this summer to shut down UNRWA – the UN refugee agency assisting Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and Jordan.

Egypt Pushes for Meeting to Discuss ‘Deal of the Century’

  • Egypt Pushes for Meeting to Discuss ‘Deal of the Century’
    by https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/
Egypt has been working to have a meeting with Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority to discuss a final decision on the US “Deal of the Century”, the plan intended to liquidate the Palestinian cause, Egyptian diplomatic sources revealed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed on Sunday.

Foreign ministers from all four countries along with intelligence chiefs are planned to come together at the summit, the preparations for which started after the visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdulaziz. It follows a series of meetings attended by Egyptian, Saudi and US officials.

The sources said that Egypt decided to prepare for such a meeting in order to take a final position regarding the American plan as quickly as possible due to US pressure being put on Cairo and Riyadh. The Egyptians are also involved in mediation between Hamas and Israel and the efforts to end the internal Palestinian division.

Jordan’s King Abdullah and PA President Mahmoud Abbas apparently welcomed the Egyptian efforts initially, but stressed that Cairo has imposed a media blackout on the issue. They noted that the meeting will discuss whether to reject or accept the deal.

The summit is expected to be held after a truce is agreed between the Palestinians and Israel, the sources explained. Al-Sisi’s administration would see whether Israel respects such a truce or not. Cairo has warned the US that the proposed deal might fail because there are no clear American guarantees that Israel will respect it, nor regarding the size of the US and Gulf States’ support for Egypt, Jordan and Gaza; the American readiness to give logistical and military aid to Egypt during its operations in Sinai; and the US proposals for the security file in Gaza during the transition period between the start of the deal’s implementation and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

In July, Al-Sisi described the deal as being a media term more than a political agreement. He pointed out that Egypt has been working to find a persuasive exit for the Palestinian cause.

Five Years on from Rabaa Sisi’s Massacre Continues in North Sinai

  • Operation Sinai 2018 is not about fighting terrorism. It is to clear North Sinai for the Palestinians (REAL JEWS). Zionist ‘666’ Israel, the Satanic counterfeit, will launch a war against Gaza and force the Palestinians into North Sinai. This is in fulfillment of Revelation 12:6,13-14. Emphasis mine:
  • Five Years on from Rabaa Sisi’s Massacre Continues in North Sinai
    by Amelia Smith, https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/
Rabaa represents the failed hope of Egyptian democracy and it set a precedent for the despicable brutality of a regime towards its own citizens.

Expectations that deposed President Mohammed Morsi would return came to a brutal end in Rabaa Square five years ago today after security forces advanced on demonstrators, shot for 12 hours into the sea of people, crushed them below their tanks and set fire to the tents in which they were sleeping.

That day the Egyptian military massacred 1,000 people in the square and the field hospital where the wounded were being treated yet not one senior member of the military has ever been punished – instead, over 700 civilians have been accused or convicted of illegal protest or murderin the square.

The Rabaa massacre did not end on the 14 August. Not only does Rabaa represent the failed hope of Egyptian democracy but it set a precedent for the despicable brutality of a regime towards its own citizens. The lack of accountability from the international community and the Egyptian authorities in its aftermath emboldened the Egyptian government’s scorched earth policy which has touched all corners of Egypt.

One of the clearest examples that this slaughter continues is the war on terror in North Sinai, which began in October 2014 and culminated in February this year when the government pledged to restore security once and for all through Operation Sinai 2018. It has been one long Rabaa massacre on a whole province, complete with restrictions on food, medicine and cooking gas. Authorities cut water and electricity and people had internet for only a few hours a day. Schools and universities closed.

Since the start of Operation Sinai Human Rights Watch estimate that 420,000 civilians are in urgent need of humanitarian aid. Since September 2015 the state has killed roughly 7,000 people and arrested 25,000 in the province.

There is an insurgency in North Sinai but when you consider that the estimated number of militants is 1,000 it’s clear that the campaign is disproportionate. A closer look at the victims and it’s easy to see why it has been more accurately described as a war on civilians.

These journalists obviously didn’t go to what’s left of Rafah or Sheikh Zuweid where 90 per cent of the farms have been razed, the villages that have been demolished, or visit the remains of the 3,000 homes that have been destroyed in Rafah City to create Egypt’s buffer zone with Gaza.

Palestinian Officials: Israel, Egypt Advancing Gaza Deal Behind Abbas’ Back

  • Palestinian Officials: Israel, Egypt Advancing Gaza Deal Behind Abbas’ Back
    by , https://www.haaretz.com/
Senior Hamas officials say the group has held series of meetings to discuss Egypt-led proposal, which would be funded by Gulf States, EU, and U.S. Reportedly, an Israeli official recently visited Qatar

Israel and Egypt have been advancing a deal to improve living conditions in the Gaza Strip without involvement by the Palestinian Authority, official sources in Ramallah say.

According to a senior Palestinian official, an Israeli official visited Qatar during the visit of Egypt’s intelligence chief, General Abbas Kamel, to Washington, in an attempt to push the proposal forth.

The Palestinian official said that the proposal being promoted in Jerusalem and in Cairo put the United Nations responsible for promoting the projects while the Egyptians would be involved in the evaluation and supervision over the projects. The funding, he said, would come mainly from the Gulf States, including Qatar, with additional funding from the European Union and the United States. A reported $650 million would be invested in projects, without direct involvement by Hamas or the PA.

Hamas has not yet officially responded to the proposal, but senior figures in the organization are sending a positive message, noting that an improvement in the situation is expected, although there is fear that the proposal’s collapse is still possible.

According to a Hamas official, the most likely option currently on the table does not include a Fatah-Hamas reconciliation. According to him, “Gaza is on the verge of total collapse, also because of the sanctions the PA has placed on the Strip, so Hamas wouldn’t think twice before accepting a proposal that would ease the Gazan population’s suffering and give true relief by lifting the siege, even if there was a political price to pay.”

The official told Haaretz that there are three possible scenarios for Gaza: a full confrontation with Israel, a long-term cease-fire that would include reconciliation based on prisoner exchange and lifting of the blockade and the scenario currently on the table, which has cease-fire as a first stage with prisoner exchange as the next stage and significant easing of the siege and the final stage, leading to a long-term cease-fire, but not internal Palestinian reconciliation.

Members of the Hamas political bureau continued a series of meetings Sunday discussing the Egyptian-led efforts for a cease-fire with Israel. No final decision was reached.

Fatah and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine criticized Hamas for working towards a cease-fire without national Palestinian agreement, thereby serving Israel and the United States’ plan to sever the Gaza Strip from the West Bank.

In light of the criticism, Hamas initiated a meeting with representatives of the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, including Fatah. Senior Hamas figure Husam Badran, who recently arrived from Qatar with the delegation of Hamas’ international leadership, said that the meeting was intended to coordinate positions and to ensure broad national consensus for any proposal that would be presented.

An activist in one of the factions who participated in the meeting told Haaretz that Hamas representatives spoke in general terms without discussing details, which have yet to be agreed upon.

Fatah’s criticism of Hamas indicates that there is no expectation that the Palestinian government will return to the Gaza Strip, at least in the first stage, and that the PA will likely be a remote partner, working primarily with the United Nations.

An Egyptian source told Haaretz that Cairo still prefers a plan in which the PA is directly involved. Therefore, it is possible that the publications in recent days regardinng a proposal bypassing the PA were intended to exert pressure on the parties to promote reconciliation. PA President Mahmoud Abbas has presented 14 objections that could derail the whole process.

The London-based Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Tuesday that the Egyptians submitted a position paper following the PA’s reservations to the proposal. The position paper suggested the Palestinian government ministers would return to the Gaza Strip and manage their offices fully. Within five weeks, according to the paper, internal security arrangement between the sides would be coordinated in Cairo. In order to implement the provisions of the Cairo reconciliation agreement, a joint Fatah-Hamas committee will be set up. The committee will oversee transferring the payment collection mechanism and the legal system to the PA in return for paying salaries to government bureaucrats in the Strip, including officers nominated by Hamas.

A delegation of Islamic Jihad senior officials is set to visit Moscow for meetings with senior Russian officials. In June, Moscow hosted a Hamas delegation. Cairo rejects funding from Qatar because of the diplomatic conflict between the two countries. Two main proposals are under discussion – one presented by Egypt and the other by United Nations special Mideast envoy Nickolay Mladenov. The Egyptian proposal gives high priority to internal Palestinian reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah; to exchanges of prisoners and of bodies of soldiers, with Israel; and to an agreement for a long-term cease-fire, to last from five to seven years, with the first step being a cease-fire within days of signing the accord.

  • RT America Published on Jul 31, 2018
Archeologists in Egypt found that due to its shape the Great Pyramid of Giza can focus electromagnetic energy, such as radio waves, into its internal chambers and below its base. Scientist say that if they are able to recreate the concentrated energy on a nanoscale it could be used to develop more efficient sensors and solar cells. RT’s Trinity Chavez reports.

30-Ton Sealed Black Granite Sarcophagus Discovered in Egypt | Ancient Architects

  • Ancient Architects Published on Jul 6, 2018
On July 1st, 2018 it was reported that a huge, 30-ton sarcophagus was found below a building in Alexandria in Egypt. Inspection of the sarcophagus revealed that it is made of black granite, 265cm in length or 8 feet 7 inches, and 185cm in width or 6 feet. The security forces coordinated with the Engineering Department of the Armed Forces, as well as the Tourism police, to extract the sarcophagus. It is the largest granite sarcophagus ever found in Alexandria and it was found close to an alabaster stone head, which the experts are saying was a depiction of the man who owned the tomb. The sarcophagus is thought to come from the Ptolemaic era but it could potentially be far older. Interestingly, the sarcophagus is sealed so its secrets are waiting to be discovered.

Sisi Holds Key to Trump’s Sinai Plan for Palestinians: The Coming Fulfillment of Revelation 12:6,13-14

  • The Palestinians (in particular those in Gaza) are the Jews of the Bible, IMO. Wilderness means desert. Sinai peninsula is a desert. The Palestinians(REAL JEWS) are about to be driven into the Sinai desert in fulfillment of Revelation 12:6,13-14. Emphasis mine:
  • Revelation 12:6-14 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.
  • Sisi Holds Key to Trump’s Sinai Plan for Palestinians
    by Jonathan Cook, http://www.middleeasteye.net/
Reports suggest Trump could be about to unveil massive relief programme, but on condition Palestinians work in Egypt under Israel’s ‘Greater Gaza’ plan

Israel and the US are in a race against time with Gaza. The conundrum is stark: how to continue isolating the tiny coastal enclave from the outside world and from the West Bank – to sabotage any danger of a Palestinian state emerging – without stoking a mass revolt from Gaza’s two million Palestinians?

In Gaza, Israel does not have the luxury of time it enjoys in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the two additional Palestinian territories it occupies. In those areas, it can keep chipping away at the Palestinian presence, using the Israeli army, Jewish settlers and tight restrictions on Palestinian movement to take over key resources like land and water.

    Gaza: A death camp
While Israel is engaged in a war of attrition with the West Bank’s population, a similar, gradualist approach in Gaza is rapidly becoming untenable. The United Nations has warned that the enclave may be only two years away from becoming “uninhabitable”, its economy in ruins and its water supplies unpotable.

More than a decade of a severe Israeli blockade as well as a series of military assaults have plunged much of Gaza into the dark ages. Israel desperately needs a solution, before Gaza’s prison turns into a death camp. And now, under cover of Donald Trump’s “ultimate peace plan”, Israel appears to be on the brink of an answer.

Recent weeks have been rife with reports in the Israeli and Arab media of moves by Washington and Israel to pressure Egypt into turning over a swath of territory in northern Sinai, next to Gaza, for infrastructure projects designed to alleviate the enclave’s “humanitarian crisis”.

Late last month Hamas, which rules Gaza, sent a delegation to Cairo to discuss the measures. This followed hot on the heels of a visit to Egypt by Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law who is overseeing the Middle East peace plan.

    Exploiting Egyptian fears
According to reports, Trump hopes soon to unveil a package – associated with his “deal of the century” peace-making – that will commit to the construction of a solar-power grid, desalination plant, seaport and airport in Sinai, as well as a free trade zone with five industrial areas. Most of the financing will come from the oil-rich Gulf states.

Egyptian diplomatic sources appear to have confirmed the reports. The programme has the potential to help relieve the immense suffering in Gaza, where electricity, clean water and freedom of movement are in short supply. Palestinians and Egyptians would jointly work on these projects, providing desperately needed jobs. In Gaza, youth unemployment stands at over 60 per cent.

It has been left unclear whether Palestinians from Gaza would be encouraged to live close to the Sinai projects in migrant workers’ towns. Israel will doubtless hope that Palestinian workers would gradually make Sinai their permanent home.
    ….
    A decade of arm-twisting
It is important to understand that the Sinai plan is not simply evidence of wishful thinking by an inexperienced or deluded Trump administration. All the signs are that it has enjoyed long and vigorous support from the Washington policy establishment for more than a decade.

In fact, four years ago, when Barack Obama was firmly ensconced in the White House, Middle East Eye charted the course of attempts by Israel and the US to arm-twist a succession of Egyptian leaders into opening Sinai to Gaza’s Palestinians.

This has been a key Israeli ambition since it pulled several thousand settlers out of Gaza in the so-called disengagement of 2005 and claimed afterwards – falsely – that the enclave’s occupation was over.

Washington has reportedly been on board since 2007, when the Islamist faction Hamas took control of Gaza, ousting the Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. It was then that Israel, backed by the US, intensified its severe blockade that has destroyed Gaza’s economy and prevented key goods from entering.

    A Palestinian statelet
The advantages of the Sinai plan are self-evident to Israel and the US. It would:

    * make permanent the territorial division between Gaza and the West Bank, and the ideological split between the rival factions of Fatah and Hamas;
    * downgrade Gaza from a diplomatic issue to a humanitarian one;
    * gradually lead to the establishment of a de facto Palestinian statelet in Sinai and Gaza, mostly outside the borders of historic Palestine;
    * encourage the eventual settlement of potentially millions of Palestinian refugees in Egyptian territory, stripping them of their right in international law to return to their homes, now in Israel;
    * weaken the claims of Abbas and his Palestinian Authority, located in the West Bank, to represent the Palestinian cause and undermine their moves to win recognition of statehood at the United Nations;
    * and lift opprobrium from Israel by shifting responsibility for repressing Gaza’s Palestinians to Egypt and the wider Arab world.

    ‘Greater Gaza’ plan
In summer 2014, Israel’s media reported that, with Washington’s blessing, Israeli officials had been working on a plan dubbed “Greater Gaza” that would attach the enclave to a large slice of northern Sinai. The reports suggested that Israel had made headway with Cairo on the idea.

Egyptian and Palestinians officials publicly responded to the leaks by denouncing the plan as “fabricated”. But, whether Cairo was privately receptive or not, it provided yet further confirmation of a decade-long Israeli strategy in Gaza.

At around the same time, an Arab newspaper interviewed a former anonymous official close to Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian president ousted in 2011. He said Egypt had come under concerted pressure from 2007 onwards to annex Gaza to northern Sinai, after Hamas took control of the enclave following Palestinian elections.

Five years later, according to the same source, Mohamed Morsi, who led a short-lived Muslim Brotherhood government, sent a delegation to Washington where the Americans proposed that “Egypt cede a third of the Sinai to Gaza in a two-stage process spanning four to five years”.  And since 2014, it appears, Morsi’s successor, General Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, has faced similar lobbying.

    Carrots and sticks
Suspicions that Sisi might have been close to capitulating four years ago were fuelled at that time by Abbas himself. In an interview on Egyptian TV, he said Israel’s Sinai plan had been “unfortunately accepted by some here [in Egypt]. Don’t ask me more about that. We abolished it.”

Israel’s neoconservative cheerleaders in Washington who reportedly leant on Mubarak in 2007 during George W Bush’s presidency, are now influencing Middle East policy again in the Trump administration. And although Sisi appears to have stood his ground in 2014, subsequent dramatic changes in the region are likely to have weakened his hand.

Both Abbas and Hamas are more isolated than ever, and the situation in Gaza more desperate. Israel has cultivated much closer ties to the Gulf states as they fashion joint opposition to Iran. And the Trump administration has dropped even the pretence of neutrality in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In fact, Trump’s Middle East team led by Kushner adopted from the outset Israel’s so-called “outside-in” paradigm for arriving at a peace agreement.

The idea is to use a carrot-and-stick approach – a mix of financial inducements and punitive sanctions – to bully Abbas and Hamas into making yet more major concessions to Israel that would void any meaningful idea of Palestinian statehood. Key to this idea is that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates can be recruited to help Israel in its efforts to force the Palestinian leadership’s hand.

Egypt, current reports indicate, has come under similar pressure from the Gulf to concede territory in Sinai to help Trump with his long-delayed “deal of the century”.

    * Experts say black granite sarcophagus found in Alexandria measures 8.6 ft long
    * It was buried 5m deep during Ptolemaic period, which lasted from 332-30 BCE
    * Archaeologists also found alabaster head, likely representing the tomb’s owner

Egyptian archaeologists have discovered what’s thought to be the largest granite sarcophagus ever found in Alexandria, measuring nearly nine feet long. The massive stone casket was buried more than 16 feet beneath the surface alongside a huge alabaster head – likely belonging to the man who owned the tomb. Experts say the ancient coffin has remained untouched since its burial thousands of years ago during the Ptolemaic period.

Researchers working under the Supreme Council of Antiquities discovered the ancient tomb during an excavation in the Sidi Gaber district of Alexandria. The team was inspecting a resident’s land ahead of digs planned for the foundation of his building at Al-Karmili Street when they stumbled upon the remarkable Ptolemaic burial 5 meters deep.

The Ptolemaic period lasted roughly 300 years, from 332-30 BCE, making this particular site more than 2,000 years old. According to the archaeologists who led the dig, the black granite sarcophagus stands at 185 centimeters tall (6 feet), 265cm long (8.6 ft), and 165 cm wide (5.4 ft).
