No Longer Just a Syrian War But an Existential Contest Between The US And Russia

Empires fall. That is an inescapable universal law. What the world is witnessing now, are the death throes of the US Empire, writhing in fury at the exposure of its malevolent and predatory imperialist past and present. The future is perhaps more uncertain than even the Washington oligarchs could have imagined. Their evil hegemonic designs for the world seem to have hit an insurmountable obstacle in Syria.

Where Iraq and Libya had fallen, swiftly and with minimal protest, Syria has resisted and resisted with every fibre of its culture, civilization and noble history that has confounded the narrow, exceptionalist mindset of the military strategists and orchestrators of war inside Washington’s overworld and the deep state underworld.

“Every single empire in its official discourse has said that it is not like all the others, that its circumstances are special, that it has a mission to enlighten, civilize, bring order and democracy, and that it uses force only as a last resort. And, sadder still, there always is a chorus of willing intellectuals to say calming words about benign or altruistic empires, as if one shouldn’t trust the evidence of one’s eyes watching the destruction and the misery and death brought by the latest mission civilizatrice.” ~ Edward Said

Now we have Syria, where 300,000 people are estimated to have died since 2011 and half the country’s population of 22 million people have been displaced internally or externally, fleeing to Turkey, Jordan or Lebanon, and beyond.

This is not a civil war but a campaign launched by the US and its “western” and regional allies to destroy another Arab government. You were told violence only followed months of oppression, when in fact the armed groups were ready to go and killed scores of police and soldiers in the first week of the “uprising” in 2011.

In any case this is no longer just a Syrian war but an existential contest between the US and Russia. The US is losing but is determined to win. Vladimir Putin, having committed Russian forces, cannot back off, either.

So be on your guard. Whether here or in the US or the UK, the mainstream media are parroting the government line. Look for alternative sources on the net and come to your own conclusions. For your sake, for the sake of Syria and its people, and for the sake of avoiding what Putin has described as America’s “irreversible course” towards war – a war that could be nuclear – do not allow yourselves to be played for fools again.”
