China’s Defense Ministry says its military will provide training for Syrian armed forces. Beijing’s Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian said the training would take place in China and it is aimed at easing the humanitarian crisis in Syria. Speaking at a monthly news briefing, Wu also said the Chinese military will provide the war-ravaged country with medical and nursing professional training as well as medical equipment, medicine, and other humanitarian aid. This, after senior Chinese military official Guan Youfei met with Syria’s defense minister in Damascus. According to media outlets, Guan urged closer military ties with the Syrian government last week. Beijing has supported an air campaign by Russia against Takfiri terrorists in Syria, saying it will endorse any initiative that bolsters Syria’s territorial integrity.
