  A recent interview given by: an ‘anonymous’ Qatari security official, has shed further light on CIA-led covert arms shipments to militants fighting in Syria. In this Reuters article, the security official and several ‘anonymous’ rebel Commanders confirm that Qatar has “tightened coordination of arms flows [plural] to Syria,” under alleged concern of weapons ending up in the hands of Al Qaeda linked Islamic extremist militants; the very militants as noted previously, that have continually formed the spearhead of the insurgency against the Syrian Government:

  “Rebel fighters in Syria say that in recent months the system for distributing arms has become more centralized, with arms being delivered through opposition National Coalition’s General Command, led by Selim Idriss, a general who defected to the opposition and is a favorite of Washington.”(my emphasis)

  What has been long confirmed by ‘official sources’ in the mainstream press, is that these arms shipments commenced in at least “early 2012″. We can be sure, as with the majority of the official timeline, that leeway has been given in these statements: its highly likely smaller arms shipments/smuggling into Syria started much earlier. Statements from eyewitnesses in Libya confirm that arms shipments from the port of Libyan Islamic Fighting Group stronghold Misrata, commenced rapidly after the fall of Gaddafi. Sibel Edmonds also reported in November 2011, long before any corporate media revealed, that the CIA, along with its Turkish and NATO counterparts had been working from the “nerve centre” at the joint US-Turkish air-base in Incerlik, Turkey, since April/May of 2011, coordinating ‘rebel’ elements and ‘activist’s’. Edmonds posits the likely theory that this was one of the initial staging grounds used by the CIA and its regional partners, to smuggle weapons, fighters and materiel into Syria as the insurgency took hold.

  Enough of this background information, ‘official sources’ and timeline discrepancies gives the impression that the ‘news’ media is not releasing information when it receives it, and is holding back crucial pieces of the timeline, to fit into the desired narrative of “Assad forces killing peaceful protesters”.

  What we learn from the Reuters report is that until Qatar (acting directly under CIA auspices) chose to “tighten” the coordination of their arms supplies into Syria, there was no coherent or structured way of the arms being distributed once they reached the Syrian border:

  “The Qataris are now [May 2013] going through the Coalition for aid and humanitarian issues and for military issues they are going through the military command,” a commander in northern Syria interviewed from Beirut said.

  This raises the immediate question: who were Qatar (under CIA auspices) distributing the arms thousands of tonnes of arms to before April 2013?  The report goes on to state:

  “Before the Coalition was formed they were going through liaison offices and other military and civil formations. That was at the beginning. Now it is different – it is all going through the Coalition and the military command.”

  “There’s a lot of consultation with the CIA, and they help Qatar with buying and moving the weapons into Syria, but just as consultants,” he said. The CIA declined to comment. (my emphasis)

  At least a pinch of salt needs to be taken with this piece of misinformation. What exactly are “liaison offices, military and civil formations?” The ‘opposition’ has never had anything resembling a military formation. Regardless, this raises several important questions and draws several distinctions into the timeline of the Syrian conflict.

  We have long known, the main supplier of arms to ‘rebels’ was and still is Qatar, acting directly under the CIA’s “consultation”. We also know that these arms shipments became a considerable amount in “early 2012″ and continued to rise in both quantity and frequency. A New York Times investigation confirmed this to be the case, reporting that eighty-five military cargo planes flew from Qatar to Turkey carrying arms bound for Syria between January 2012 and March 2013. (the maximum load of an average military cargo plane is around 50-60 tonnes.)  What other synonymous distinctions in the conflict do we know about, that commenced and progressed from “early 2012″?

  In an article on Russia Today’s website, Patrick Henningsen, a writer, investigative journalist, filmmaker, and founder of the news website, 21stCentury Wire.com, says that so far three efforts have been made by Britain, Qatar, and the United States to lure a West-led invasion of Syria, citing Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons. Unlike the WMD lies that were used for the Iraq invasion in 2003, these three efforts have failed, putting the chemical weapons crowd in Washington and London on a very shaky ground, Henningsen concluded.

  The first British effort was in January 2013, hatched with the help of Qatar. The plan involved a British private contractor, Britam, bringing in Qaddafi-era chemical weapons stocks from Libya, which would transfer them out via Benghazi, and then plant them in Syria, in order to place blame on the Assad government. The plan was prematurely exposed in the “Britam Leaks” by an anonymous hack showing that Qatar would be paying a substantial sum for the operation to be coordinated through Britam.

  The second attempt was made following reports of a deadly chlorine attack in the northern region of Aleppo, with both sides claiming the other was responsible. The Aleppo case was quickly knocked down by a number of alternative media outlets.

  The third attempt was led by British scientists who claimed they had found evidence of chemical weapons that were used in Syria in relation to two incidents in the Damascus area around March 19, 2013. With Obama threatening Syria with having crossed the “red line,” British Prime Minister David Cameron hoped that this one would help him get a green light for military intervention. That, too, failed when Carla Del Ponte, leading UN’s own investigation into chemical weapons, concluded that witness and victim testimonies clearly showed that Western and Gulf-backed Syrian rebels had used chemical weapons such as the nerve gas sarin.

  Amid reports of a US plan for a military invasion of Syria under the pretext of securing the country’s chemical weapons, a top US intelligence officials has emphasized that collapse of the Syrian government would constitute “a huge strategic loss to Iran.”

  In remarks made on Thursday before the US Senate Armed Services Committee, Director of American National Intelligence James Clapper refused to publicly comment on British and French claims about the use of chemical weapons in Syria, described by US President Barack Obama as a “game changer,” but alleged that the Damascus government “appears quite willing to use chemical weapons against its own people,” The Los Angeles Times reports on Friday.

  Making such claims appear to be part of a widely suspected US effort to prepare the grounds for a military occupation of Syria with the excuse of “securing” the country’s alleged chemical weapons.

  This is while the US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is heading to the Middle East next week to discuss the Syrian situation and also to finalize American weapons sales to Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates with the stated objective of confronting what Washington claims as “the Iran threat.”

  The daily further reported on Thursday that the US military is deploying a contingent of 200 troops to Jordan’s border with Syria to prepare for a major invasion into the country, involving 20,000 American troops. Pointing to Obama’s earlier suggestions that any use of chemical weapons by Syria would prompt a major US reaction against the country, the report cites unnamed US officials as saying that “there is no consensus within the US intelligence community about the possible use of chemical weapons in Syria,” confirming recent claims made by Britain and France.

  Moreover, in his remarks at the US Senate Clapper said, “We receive many claims of chemical warfare use in Syria each day, and we take them all seriously and we do all we can to investigate them. We can’t provide additional details on these efforts in this setting to protect the fragile critical intelligence we need to assess the situation, but we certainly – we can talk about this in closed session.”

  Clapper further confirmed many reports about the rising influence of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front among opposition militant gangs fighting to overthrow  the government of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, saying that members of the group “are present in 13 of the 14 provinces… and are starting to establish municipal services, provide humanitarian aid, food, hospitals and sharia law courts.”“That is a great concern,” he added.

  Clapper, however, also expressed concerns that the foreign-backed unrest in Syria is destabilizing neighboring Jordan and Lebanon, the report says.

  Syria has been gripped by a deadly unrest since March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of government forces, have been killed in the violence.
  Damascus says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

  In testimony before the US Senate Armed Forces Committee on Wednesday, top US defense officials announced that they are deploying 200 troops of the 1st Armored Division to Jordan. They will establish headquarters near the Syrian-Jordanian border and plan for a rapid build-up, involving 20,000 or more US troops, awaiting orders from the White House to invade Syria.

  A US invasion force would reportedly include Special Forces troops and regular units preparing for operations inside Syria, as well as air defense units guarding against possible retaliatory Syrian air strikes on Jordan.

Hagel said that a US intervention in Syria “could have the unintended consequence of bringing the United States into a broader regional conflict or proxy war.” He noted that this “could embroil the US in a significant, lengthy, and uncertain military commitment.”

  He detailed the streams of cash Washington is pouring into the anti-Assad opposition, including $117 million for “communications and medical equipment” as well as undisclosed US State Department and US Agency for International Development funding. Hagel explained, “The goal is to strengthen those opposition groups that share the international community’s vision for Syria’s future and minimize the influence of extremists.”

  Following a chemical weapon attack in Syria, Obama’s National Security Council Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough, went on CNN to blame the Syrian government. McDonough characterized the incident as a “game changer” and said the United States “will act accordingly.”

  For now, however, the Obama administration is taking a cautious approach. “We are evaluating the charges that are being made and the allegations, consulting closely with our partners in the region and in the international community. But we have no evidence to substantiate that charge, that the opposition has used chemical weapons,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Tuesday.

  Carney, however, said the administration is skeptical of the Syrian government’s claim it is not responsible for the chemical weapon attack. “We are deeply skeptical of a regime that has lost all credibility and we would warn the regime of making these kind of charges as a pretext or cover for its use of chemical weapons.”

  According to Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, the incident will be “on the table in the discussions between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Obama” during Obama’s trek to Israel. Livni did not directly blame the Syrian government for the attack, but McDonough’s comments during the CNN segment leave little doubt the United States plans to blame al-Assad’s government and, as McDonough stated, “act accordingly.”

  So far, the attacks have yet to be officially confirmed by the United States.

  “The United States has the tools in order to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon and in order to stop all this situation in Syria,” Livni said. “It is not a favor to the state of Israel. This is something that represents the interests of the United States as well.”

The U.S. response, according to the senators, “should include the provision of arms to vetted Syrian opposition groups, targeted strikes against Assad’s aircraft and SCUD missile batteries on the ground, and the establishment of safe zones inside Syria to protect civilians and opposition groups.”

  Al-Isa: I do definitely agree with that because this is all part and parcel of a concerted relentless effort since 2003 to destabilize, derail, discredit and severely undermine the fledgling democracy in Iraq.

  These attacks are being carried out by al-Qaeda, which has been revitalized and reinvigorated that is largely due to the protests, which are taking place in western Iraq, which are wholeheartedly and emphatically backed up by Saudi Arabia and Qatar as a new potent instrument to actually ratchet up sectarian tension in Iraq.
  And that’s why we see that al-Qaeda have used it and exploited that to increase the radicalization and also ramp up the recruitment and to reactivate those areas, which have been the safe havens and sanctuaries for al-Qaeda previously.Let’s not forget it is also due to the growing and mounting influence of al-Qaeda, that is  al-Nusra, who have been armed, funded and also paid salaries in Syria by Saudi Arabia.

  So the two branches of al-Qaeda are working hand in hand and let’s not forget that Saudi Arabia desperately and strenuously needs now sectarian tension and ultimately sectarian war in Iraq to convince its people that it is engaged in dealing and confronting existential threats coming from the Shias and principally from the Islamic Republic of Iran -  because the Saudis, which is a Wahabi government has been portraying itself that it is the defender and the guardian of the Sunnis.Plus the popular uprising in Saudi Arabia have surmounted the impregnable defense of the Saudi regime, which is sectarian divisions. That’s why it needs to demonstrate on the ground that it is heavily engaged in defending the Sunnis in Iraq and also defending the Sunnis in Saudi Arabia.

  It also wants to punish Iraq for pursuing a diplomatic and also a peaceful approach to resolving the crisis; the sectarian attention in Syria; and to keep the Iraq government busy dealing with internal feuding and internal affairs, which are pushed by the Saudi regime.
