  (NaturalNews) The vast majority of the published scientific literature on cancer  and cancer research is inherently flawed and non-reproducible, reveals a new  review published online in the journal Nature. Researchers C. Glenn  Begley and Lee Ellis found that a mere 11 percent of 53 papers on cancer  published in reputable, peer-reviewed journals was solid, while the other 89  percent could not be reproduced, implying that it may be false or at the very  least misleading.

  Preclinical studies are the basis upon which the  scientific community at large determines how best to develop treatments for  disease, including potential new approaches to treating cancer. But such  studies, though sure to contain some minor flaws from time to time, appear to be  missing the boat in major ways on a regular basis. And the end result of this  intrinsic failure is a cancer treatment system that is not only outdated but  potentially completely misguided.

  “The scientific community assumes that  the claims in a preclinical study can be taken at face value – that although  there might be some errors in detail, the main message of the paper can be  relied on and the data will, for the most part, stand the test of time,” wrote  the authors about their findings. “Unfortunately, this is not always the  case.”

  Based on a review of 53 published papers on cancer, Begley and  Ellis discovered that only six of them could be reproduced and confirmed in a  clinical setting. And the worst part was that the 53 papers were considered to  be “landmark,” which means they are generally recognized as having had a  significant impact on cancer research due  to presenting some new cancer treatment approach or novel therapy for targeting  cancer cells.

  Every once in a while a study pops up on the National Library of Medicine’s bibliographic database known as MEDLINE that not only confirms the therapeutic relevance of natural substances in cancer treatment, but blows the conventional approach out of the water. Published in 2007 in the journal Planta Medica, researchers found that an enzyme extracted from pineapple stems known as bromelain was superior to the chemo-agent 5-fluorauracil in treating cancer in the animal model. The researchers stated:

  “This antitumoral effect [bromelain] was superior to that of 5-FU [5-fluorouracil], whose survival index was approximately 263 %, relative to the untreated control.”

  What is so remarkable about this research is that 5-FU has been used as a cancer treatment for nearly 40 years, and has been relatively unsuccessful due to its less than perfect selectivity at killing cancer, often killing and/or irreversibly damaging healthy cells and tissue, as well.

  As a highly toxic, fluoride-bound form of the nucleic acid uracil, a normal component of RNA, the drug is supposed to work by tricking more rapidly dividing cells — which include both cancer and healthy intestinal, hair follicle, and immune cells — into taking it up, thereby inhibiting (read: poisoning) RNA replication enzymes and RNA synthesis.

  The material safety data sheet (MSDS) for 5-FU states:

  The dose at which 50% of the animals given the drug die is 115mg/kg, or the equivalent of 7.8 grams for a 150 lb adult human.

  Keep in mind that a 7.5 gram dose of 5-FU, which is the weight of 3 pennies, would kill 50% of the humans given it. Bromelain’s MSDS, on the other hand, states the LD50 to be 10,000 mg/kg, or the equivalent 1.5 lbs of bromelain for a 150lb adult, which means it is 3 orders of magnitude safer!

  How then, can something as innocuous as the enzyme from the stem/core of a pineapple be superior to a drug that millions of cancers patients over the past 40 years have placed their hopes of recovery on, as well as exchanging billions of dollars for?

  There is a well-known effect associated with a wide range of natural compounds called “selective cytotoxicity,” whereby they are able to induce programmed cell death (the graceful self-disassembly known as apoptosis) within the cancer cells, while leaving healthy cells and tissue unharmed. No FDA-approved chemotherapy drug on the market today has this indispensable property (because chemicals don’t have behave like natural compounds), which is why cancer treatment is still in the dark ages, often destroying the quality of life, and accelerating the death of those who undergo it, often unwittingly. When a person dies following conventional cancer treatment it is all too easy to “blame the victim” and simply write that patient’s cancer off as “chemo-resistant,” or “exceptionally aggressive,” when in fact the non-selective nature of the chemotoxic agent is what ultimately lead to their death.

  Keep in mind that bromelain, like all natural substances, will never receive FDA drug approval. Capital, at the present time, does not flow into the development of non-patentable (i.e. non-profitable) cancer therapies, even if they work, are safe and extremely affordable. This is simply the nature of the beast. Until we compel our government to utilize our tax dollars to invest in this type of research, there will be no level playing field in cancer treatment, or any treatment offered through the conventional medical establishment, for that matter. Or, some of us may decide to take our health into our own hands, and use the research, already freely available on possible natural cancer treatment, to inform our treatment decisions without the guidance of the modern day equivalent of the “priest” of the body, the conventional oncologist, who increasingly fills the description of an “applied pharmacologist/toxicologist” – nothing more, nothing less.

  A Recent Episode that Proves They Don’t Want a Cure
  You would expect if a relatively safe generic pharmaceutical drug manufactured for another purpose was discovered as a potential cancer cure, there would be a rush to get that drug approved for curing cancer, or at least trying it out.

  This happened a few short years ago with with a drug, now generic, that was once used for a rare metabolic disorder. Yet the cancer industry shows no interest for following up on dichloroacetate (DCA). 2007 research at University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, reported in 2007. That’s because DCA is no longer patented.

  Their research confirmed cancer as a metabolic malfunction, not a weird mutation of cells often explained away as a genetic issue. The outlaw alternative cancer therapists have long realized this, but the medical mafia doesn’t want you to hear about it.

  Evangelos Michelakis and the Alberta University research team tested DCA on human cancer cells outside the body and in cancerous mice with profound success.

  DCA’s worst side effects, which rarely occur, include some numbness and a slightly affected gait. The mice were fed DCA in water, and in weeks they had remarkable tumor shrinkage. This indicates DCA can be taken orally.

  DCA works by restoring the cells’ mitochondria. Michelakis and his team had discovered that the mitochondria in cancer cells are not permanently damaged and irreparable, as the cancer industry maintains.

  With cellular nuclei mitochondria malfunctioning, cancer cells use glucose fermentation for survival energy instead of oxygen. This fermentation occurs when cellular glycolysis (glucose conversion) is forced to occur without oxygen in an anaerobic cellular environment, which can be created by benign tumor masses, toxins, and low pH or acidic levels.

  DCA restores mitochondria in cells to make them function properly, aerobically, using oxygen metabolically to convert glucose into energy.

  Another function of normal mitochondria is signaling apoptosis, or cellular self destruction. Normal cells die and become replaced constantly. But with cancer cells, the apoptosis signal is nullified, making cancer cells “immortal.”

  The Alberta University researchers also realized that glycolysis fermentation in cancer cells produces lactic acid. The lactic acid breaks down the collagen holding those cells together in a tumor.

  This allows cancer cells to easily break away from a tumor shrinking from mainstream therapies. The researchers reasoned this is why cancer metastasizes or spreads to different parts of the body or reappears after remission from chemo.

  Gary Meadows, a Washington State University researcher and associate dean for graduate education and scholarship in the College of Pharmacy, says his findings are encouraging, that more than 40 plant-based compounds can “turn on” genes that suppress metastasis.

  Meadows and his colleagues poured over countless studies on metastasis, and the work was tedious. “People for the most part did not set out in their research goals to study metastasis suppressor genes,” he said. Traditional cancer researchers didn’t look at how foods, or the compounds in foods, could trigger genes to stop cancer from spreading. So, it was up to Meadows and his colleagues to find these connections themselves.

Indeed, the 2009 documentary ‘The Idiot Cycle’ alleges that some of the world’s top cancer causing culprits (including, it is claimed in the film, Bayer, BASF, Dow, Dupont, Monsanto, Syngenta, Novartis, Pfizer, among others) are allegedly profiting from the production of cancer-causing products and then some of the same companies are investing in profitable cancer ‘treatments’. These claims outlined in the movie remain to be fully verified.

  On top of this, some of these companies are now developing genetically modified crops, which have never been adequately tested for long-term health impacts like cancer. The onset of the disease is frequently 15 to 20 years down the road for victims.

  Prior to undertaking his recent study into the health impacts of GMOs and incurring the wrath of the GMO sector for his findings, Gilles-Eric Seralini, professor of molecular biology at the University of Caen in France, said it was absurd that only three months of testing allowed GM corn to be approved in over a dozen nations. Upon reviewing Monsanto’s raw data, he and his team found, among other problems, liver damage and physiological changes into a pre-diabetic condition among the rats which had eaten Monsanto’s GM corn. And that’s just from three months of eating such food. His new study was over a two year period.

  The incidence of cancer is escalating and is expected to double by 2050, and it’s a global issue. For example, the incidence of cancer for some major organs in India is the highest in the world. While tobacco is a major cause, other factors cannot be discounted. Recent reports in the Indian media have drawn attention to rising rates of breast cancer in urban areas, and in 2009 there was a reported increase in cancer rates in Tamil Nadu’s textile belt, possibly due to chemically contaminated water. But without proper regulations in force, this may be the thin end of the wedge for India.

  According to Dr Samuel Epstein, emeritus professor of environmental medicine at the University of Illinois, a range of industries in the US have contaminated the air, land and sea with a wide range of petrochemical and other carcinogens. This has not only affected the public at large, but has also placed workers in certain sectors and their offspring at risk of cancer.

  Epstein notes that the incidence of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma has increased by nearly 100 per cent in the US over the last few decades, and brain cancer by about 80 to 90 per cent. Breast cancer has gone up by about 60 to 65 per cent. Testicular cancer – particularly in men between the ages of 28 and 35 – has gone up by nearly 300 percent. Epstein asserts that there has been a massive escalation in the incidence of cancer that cannot be explained away on the basis of smoking, longevity, genetics or a fatty diet. He may be right.

  In the US, animal and dairy products are contaminated with a wide range of hormones, pesticides and other industrial chemical carcinogens, some of which are very important risk factors for reproductive cancers – testicular cancers in men, breast cancers in women and leukemia in children. The use of the IGF1 growth hormone in milk has been associated with breast, prostate and colon cancer.

  Epstein provides various examples of everyday, taken-for-granted household items, cosmetics and toiletries, from deodorants to shampoo and talcum powder, which also contain chemicals that are carcinogens. The conclusion is that synthetic chemicals and their effects on people’s health affect everyone simply because they can be found in so many consumer products today. Unfortunately many governments roll over all too easily when it comes to sanctioning new synthetic chemicals without adequate testing, which is not too surprising, especially where pharmaceuticals are concerned – substantially more money is spent by companies on marketing and lobbying than on actual research into their drugs.

It  seems that it extends as far as cancer research, with monetary incentives and  smudged scientific results shaking the very foundation of cancer research.  Recently, the Mayo Clinic determined that ten years worth of cancer research has  been made  useless due to such fraud.

Known as the ‘thunder god vine’ or lei gong teng, the Chinese plant is actually integrated into Chinese medicine and has been used for ages in remedying a number of conditions including rheumatoid arthritis.

  According to the new research out of the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Cancer Center, the thunder god plant compound led to no signs of tumors after a 40 day period — even after discontinuing the treatment. Published in the journal Science Translational Medicine and funded by the National Institutes of Health, even the scientists working on the project were stunned by the anti-cancer properties of the compound. Known to contain something known as triptolide, which has been identified as a cancer fighter in previous research, it is thought to be the key component that may be responsible for the anti-tumor capabilities.
