    A statement asking Congress to end water fluoridation in the United States has been released by the Fluoride Action Network (FAN). Over 600 professionals, including a Nobel Prize winner, officers in the Union that represents Environmental Protection Agency professionals, and members of the National Research Council panel on fluoride’s toxicology, have signed the statement.

    The report urges Congressional members to “recognize that fluoridation is outdated, has serious risks that far outweigh any minor benefits, violates sound medical ethics, and denies freedom of choice.”

    It cites eight recent events that call for an urgent end to water fluoridation. Among them:

    A 500-page review of fluoride’s toxicology by the National Research Council of the National Academies, published in 2006.
    - Evidence from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that found 32 percent of U.S. children have dental fluorosis, which is caused by fluoride.
    - The American Dental Association’s 2006 policy change, which recommends not giving fluoridated water to infants for the first 12 months of life.
    - A Harvard University study that found a five- to seven-fold increased risk of osteosarcoma (bone cancer) among young men who were exposed to fluoride between the ages of 6 and 8.

    The CDC’s recognition that fluoride is beneficial in reducing tooth decay when it’s applied topically, not taken systemically.

    The statement calls for members of Congress to sponsor a new Congressional Hearing on Fluoridation that requires those who continue to support water fluoridation to provide scientific basis, under oath, for their continued recommendations.

    According to one of the statement’s signers, Dr. Arvid Carlsson, winner of the 2000 Nobel Prize for Medicine, “Fluoridation is against all principles of modern pharmacology. It’s really obsolete.”

    The  inflammation link to cancer is backed by numerous scientific studies, including  a 2011 review published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of  Sciences which found that up to 25 percent of all cancers are caused by  chronic inflammation. According to scientists from Ohio State  University’s (OSU) Comprehensive Cancer Center, inflammation triggers an  increase in a molecule known as microRNA-155 (miR-155) that causes a reduction  in levels of the protein responsible for repairing damaged DNA.

    And what  about the other 75 percent of cancers? Curcumin appears to have those covered as  well. Research released that same year by scientists from the University of  Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center revealed that curcumin actually seeks out malignant cancer cells and alters the regulation of DNA in  order to kill them. And unlike synthetic anti-cancer drugs, curcumin leaves  healthy cells and DNA alone so as not to cause harmful side  effects.

    “Curcumin (diferuloylmethane) … is one of the most powerful  and promising chemopreventive and anticancer agents, and epidemiological  evidence demonstrates that people who incorporate high doses of this spice in  their diets have a lower incidence of cancer,”  explains board-certified clinical nutritionist Byron J.     It is being reported that commercial labs are applying for patents on the Novel Coronavirus that is currently killing 50% of the people who contract it.

    The World Health Organisation (WHO) has urged countries with possible cases of novel coronavirus to share information. The move comes after Saudi Arabia said the development of diagnostic tests had been delayed by patent rights on the NCoV virus by commercial laboratories.

    Twenty-two deaths and 44 cases have been reported worldwide since 2012, the WHO says. NCoV is from the same family of viruses as the one that caused Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars).

    An outbreak of Sars in 2003 killed about 770 people. However, NCoV and Sars are distinct from each other, the WHO says. The virus first emerged in Saudi Arabia, which is where most cases have since arisen. Saudi Deputy Health Minister Ziad Memish raised his concerns at the World Health Assembly in Geneva.

    “We are still struggling with diagnostics and the reason is that the virus was patented by scientists and is not allowed to be used for investigations by other scientists,” he said. I think strongly that the delay in the development of … diagnostic procedures is related to the patenting of the virus.”

    WHO chief Margaret Chan expressed dismay at the information.

    “Why would your scientists send specimens out to other laboratories on [sic] a bilateral manner and allow other people to take intellectual property rights on a new disease?” she asked. Any new disease is full of uncertainty.”

    She urging the WHO’s 194 member states to only share “viruses and specimens with WHO collaborating centres… not in a bilateral manner.”

    She added: “I will follow it up. I will look at the legal implications together with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. No IP (intellectual property) should stand in the way of you, the countries of the world, to protect your people.”

    WHO’s assistant director-general for health security, Dr Keiji Fukuda, said his agency had also been “struggling with diagnostics” because of property rights concerns and ill-defined international rules for sharing such materials, AP news agency reported.

    Cases of novel coronavirus have been detected in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, the UK and France. Twenty-two of the 44 cases reported worldwide have been in Saudi Arabia, WHO says. Out of the 22 deaths, 10 of them have been in the kingdom.

    (The Best Years in Life) According to data released by the UK-based Alliance for Natural Health International (ANH-Intl), pharmaceutical drugs are 62,000 times more likely to kill you than supplements. In fact, the data collected by ANH-Intl demonstrates that food supplements are the safest substances regularly consumed by UK citizens even though they are the target of increasingly restrictive European legislation aimed at ‘protecting consumers.’

    The data found that pharmaceutical drugs were also 7,750 times more likely to result in death than herbal remedies. Both food supplements and herbal remedies were placed in the ‘supersafe’ category of individual risk – with a less than one in ten million risk of death.

    By contrast, being admitted to a UK hospital or taking prescription drugs exposes a person to one of the greatest preventable risks in society. Overall, preventable medical injuries in UK hospitals expose patients to the same risk of death as being deployed on military service to Afghanistan – both of which are around 300,000 times greater than the risk of death from taking natural health products.

    ANH-Intl executive and scientific director, Dr. Robert Verkerk, PhD, hailed the figures as shedding new light on the question of natural healthcare’s safety. “These figures tell us not only what activities an individual is most or least likely to die from, but also what the relative risks of various activities are to society as a whole. It puts some real perspective on the actual risk of death posed by food supplements and herbal remedies at a time when governments are clamping down because they tell us they’re dangerous.”

    Verkerk added, “When compared with the risk of taking food supplements, an individual is around 900 times more likely to die from food poisoning and nearly 300,000 times more likely to die from a preventable medical injury during a spell in a UK hospital. The latter is on a par with the risk of death from active military service in Iraq or Afghanistan.”

    According to Dr. Verkerk, the new figures should put pressure on UK and European authorities to reduce regulatory burdens on natural health products. “Governments justify the increasingly elaborate and restrictive new laws affecting natural health products on grounds of public safety,” said Verkerk. “They argue that reducing consumer access to food supplements and herbal remedies, with the consequent negative impacts on small businesses manufacturing, distributing and selling such products, is in society’s interest. But the evidence is simply not there – where are the bodies?”

    A study claiming that fish oil provides no benefit in heart disease is being hyped as the final word on the issue. But is it? No, it is not. In fact, the study is absurdly blatant pseudo science, with two errors so glaring it’s hard to believe they were made. Why do the researchers do it? Why do they care so little about the truth and your health?

    A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine purports to show that fish oil provides no benefit whatsoever in prevention of heart disease.[1] At first glance, it would appear to be true. The study is, after all, double blind and placebo controlled, not to mention having a significant number of participants. But is it for real, or is there some sleight of hand at work?
    -

    There’s one initial clue that should give pause. The study’s endpoints had to be changed. That’s always a bad sign. In fact, it breaks the rules of good research. But, they had to do it because they found that their study participants weren’t dying as fast as they’d anticipated.
    -

    Now, if they’d been interested in the truth, they’d have tried to figure out what was wrong. After all, the odds of dying when people have signs of heart disease are pretty well understood. Otherwise, how could they possibly have anticipated the rate at which deaths would occur?

    Of course, they didn’t sit back and wonder what they might be doing wrong. Instead, they just added new end points to their study.

    How They Cheated: Basic Trick
    There’s a blatantly obvious reason that the death rate was lower than expected, but we’ll get to that in a minute, after demonstrating the study’s primary flaw:

    There was no placebo!
    -
    Certainly, the write-up on the study claims there was, but the fact is that a placebo, to be legitimate, must contain things other than the active ingredients
    being tested. So what’s being tested? Eicosapentanoic acid and docosahexanoic acid, two of the substances in fish oil that are believed to be the active properties that provide its benefits.

    The “placebo” used was olive oil. What’s in olive oil? Eicosapentanoic acid and docosahexanoic acid, among other substances. Why would anyone expect different results between subjects who took the active ingredients and a “control” group who also took the active ingredients?

    (NaturalNews) You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand why  genetically modified foods are dangerous, but if you look closely, you may just  find the name of one listed among the names of more than 800 scientists from  around the globe who have joined forces in an open letter to all world  governments, outlining their detailed concerns over the alarming potential  threat of biotech’s unauthorized, worldwide GM foods experiment.

    In a  country whose government and media appear only too eager to conjure up fear of  “bioterrorism” and “biological weapons,” it’s shocking (albeit obviously  deliberate) to what extent the GMO issue remains omitted from mainstream  discussion. Consider that the message from these scientists seems to be that the  whole planet is already under attack by the persistent and largely unchecked,  reckless behavior of greedy, unruly U.S. corporations – corporations whose  activities appear to be sponsored by the federal government. And whether you  know it yet or not, your body is the battleground.

    The letter, as posted  by the Institute of Science in Society (http://www.i-sis.org.uk/list.php), is a collective call for  the immediate suspension of any and all releases of GM crops and products into  the environment for at least five years, in order to allow for more thorough  testing. The scientists further demand that all patents on life-forms and living  processes – including seeds, cell lines and genes – be revoked and banned “for a  comprehensive public inquiry into the future of agriculture and food  security for all.”

    Life is a discovery, they say, not an innovation, and  patents on life-forms and living processes “sanction biopiracy of indigenous  knowledge and genetic resources, violate basic human rights and dignity,  compromise healthcare, impede medical and scientific research and are against  the welfare of animals.” Furthermore, they argue that GM crops provide no  identifiable benefits either to farmers or consumers; instead, they offer only  very significant risks to all living things.

    GMOs are just bad news, followed by more bad news
    Any consumption of GMO  products is basically a smorgasbord of disaster, say these global scientists. In  their thorough and fully cited open letter, they take biotechnology to task -  making clear, undeniable connections between GM food crops and other products  (like milk from cows injected with genetically modified Bovine Growth Hormone)  and health problems for mammals in general. At the same time the GM crops  themselves actually contribute to lower yields, increased use of  herbicides/insecticides, unpredictable performance, poor economic returns, and a  progressive monopoly on food by big corporations, they also encourage  herbicide-tolerant weeds and pesticide-resistant superbugs, making their  purported goal of “feeding the world” appear just as it is -  clearly out of the reach of biotech industry. Scientists propose, instead, that  these large food corporations are actually more the cause of world hunger  currently, than they are the solution to it.

    “It is on account of  increasing corporate monopoly operating under the globalised economy that the  poor are getting poorer and hungrier,” scientists  say. “Family farmers around the world have been driven to destitution and  suicide… Mergers and acquisitions are continuing.” Seed patent policies  currently in place at biotech companies prevent farmers from saving and  replanting seeds, an activity the scientists acknowledge, is one enjoyed even by  third world farmers.

    Don’t you get it?  Obama has never been on your side.  He never deserved your trust. Disappointment implies he was your buddy and then unaccountably walked away.     After his victory in the 2008 election, Obama filled key posts with Monsanto people, in federal agencies that wield tremendous force in food issues, the USDA and the FDA:

    At the USDA, as the director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Roger Beachy, former director of the Monsanto Danforth Center.

    As deputy commissioner of the FDA, the new food-safety-issues czar, the infamous Michael Taylor, former vice-president for public policy for Monsanto.  Taylor had been instrumental in getting approval for Monsanto’s genetically engineered bovine growth hormone.

    As commissioner of the USDA, Iowa governor, Tom Vilsack.  Vilsack had set up a national group, the Governors’ Biotechnology Partnership, and had been given a Governor of the Year Award by the Biotechnology Industry Organization, whose members include Monsanto.

    As the new Agriculture Trade Representative, who would push GMOs for export, Islam Siddiqui, a former Monsanto lobbyist. As the new counsel for the USDA, Ramona Romero, who had been corporate counsel for another biotech giant, DuPont.

    As the new head of the USAID, Rajiv Shah, who had previously worked in key positions for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a major funder of GMO agriculture research.

    We should also remember that Obama’s secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, once worked for the Rose law firm.  That firm was counsel to Monsanto.

    Obama nominated Elena Kagan to the US Supreme Court.  Kagan, as federal solicitor general, had previously argued for Monsanto in the Monsanto v. Geertson seed case before the Supreme Court.

    The deck was stacked.  Obama hadn’t simply made honest mistakes.  Obama hadn’t just failed to exercise proper oversight in selecting appointees.  He was staking out territory on behalf of Monsanto and other GMO corporate giants.

    And now let us look at what key Obama appointees have wrought for their true bosses.  Let’s see what GMO crops have walked through the open door of the Obama presidency.
