Three young Jewish settlers are suspected of attacking undercover police officers who were posing as Palestinian shepherds. One officer was injured in the incident.

According to police, the suspects punched the officers and attacked them with clubs because they assumed they were Arabs approaching the farm they were staying in. The Mount Sinai farm is located in the south Mount Hebron area.

On Sunday the Jerusalem District Court extended the suspects’ remand until Tuesday. An indictment is expected to be filed in the coming days. A fourth suspect is still at large.

The volatile south Mount Hebron area has seen a number of clashes between settlers and Palestinians as of late. As part of the effort to apprehend some of the attackers, last week police officers disguised as Palestinian shepherds approached the Mount Sinai farm. According to the police, one of the suspects walked over to the undercover officers and told them they must leave the property immediately. When they did not comply, the suspect alerted his friends. The friends, who were masked and equipped with clubs, proceeded to attack the police officers. At some point the officers identified themselves and arrested the assailants, apart from one who managed to escape.

Turkey continues its provocations, most recently forcing an Armenian flight heading to Aleppo, Syria, to land in Erzurum, Turkey. A search revealed the aircraft was carrying humanitarian supplies, after which the flight was allowed to continue. This is obviously a prelude to closing Turkey’s airspace to any plans bound for Syria.

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Selcuk Unal said that Turkey granted the plane permission to fly over its airspace only on condition it can search its cargo for possible military equipment.

Syria’s state-run news agency SANA says Syria has decided to ban Turkish Airlines flights from Syrian airspace.

In a story that only confirms that the Saudis are sending their mercenaries from all over the world to Syria, the Turkish daily Today’s Zaman reports that the 17 Russian passengers aboard a Syrian commercial Moscow-Damascus flight that Turkey intercepted, were intelligence officials on their way to identify Russian citizens of Chechen origin fighting against Syrian government forces alongside opposition forces, the Yenisafak daily reported on Oct. 13. According to the report, those Russians were officials from the Federal Security Service (FSB), Russia’s primary domestic intelligence agency, and they did not undergo a security check in Ankara because they were carrying diplomatic passports.

Whether the 17 Russian nationals were intelligence operatives may or may not be true, the fact is that some 300 Chechen Russian citizens are fighting with opposition forces to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Armenia-to-Syria flight lands in Turkey for ‘security check’!

Turkish authorities have searched an aircraft traveling from Armenia to Syria after it landed in the eastern city of Erzurum. Ankara demanded in advance the on-the-ground cargo inspection as a condition of flying through Turkish airspace.

“There was nothing extraordinary about it,” Air Armenia head Arsen Avetisyan assured the Interfax news agency. The aircraft was grounded for about two hours and then cleared to continue its flight. The cargo plane is carrying humanitarian aid to war-torn Aleppo.

This incident comes days after the Turkish military forced a Syrian plane traveling from Moscow to Damascus to land in Turkey. Ankara claimed that the civilian aircraft was transporting weapons to Syria. Authorities seized equipment they found in the plane’s luggage before allowing it to resume its flight.

The equipment was spare parts for radar, not weapons, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. The components were legally purchased in Russia, and were being delivered to the buyer in Syria.

Turkey and Syria denied each other the use of their respective airspaces after the incident, fanning tensions between the two countries. Ankara is an outspoken supporter of Syria’s armed opposition, which aims to topple the government in Damascus in the bloody 19-month-long standoff.

A new study led by a research team at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat (LMU) in Munich now shows that it can also inhibit formation of metastases.

One of the most comprehensive summaries of a review of 700 turmeric studies to date was published by the respected ethnobotanist James A. Duke, Phd. He showed that turmeric appears to outperform many pharmaceuticals in its effects against several chronic, debilitating diseases, and does so with virtually no adverse side effects.

Cancer is no exception. Prostate cancer is one of the most prevalent malignancies in the Western world, and is often diagnosed only after metastatic tumors have formed in other organs. In three percent of cases, these metastases are lethal. A research team led by PD Dr. Beatrice Bachmeier at LMU Munich has been studying the mode of action of a natural product that inhibits the formation of metastases. The compound is found in turmeric, a plant that has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years, and is a major ingredient of curry.

Duke noted that in the handbook Phytochemicals: Mechanisms of Action, curcumin and/or turmeric were effective in animal models in prevention and/or treatment of colon cancer, mammary cancer, prostate cancer, murine hepato-carcinogenesis (liver cancer in rats), esophageal cancer, and oral cancer.

Bachmeier’s research centers on curcumin, the polyphenol responsible for the characteristic color of curry. Curcumin is well tolerated and is therefore, in principle, suitable both for prophylactic use (primary prevention) and also for the suppression of metastases in cases where an established tumor is already present (secondary prevention). In a previous study Bachmeier and her colleagues had demonstrated that the substance reduces statistically significantly the formation of lung metastases in an animal model of advanced breast cancer.

Mitigating metastasis The new study was designed to investigate the efficacy of curcumin in the prevention of prostate cancer metastases, and to determine the agent’s mechanism of action. The researchers first examined the molecular processes that are abnormally regulated in prostate carcinoma cells. Breast and prostate cancers are often associated with latent or chronic inflammatory reactions, and in both cases, the tumor cells were found to produce pro-inflammatory immunomodulators including the cytokines CXCL1 und CXCL2.

The researchers went on to show that curcumin specifically decreases the expression of these two proteins, and in a mouse model, this effect correlated with a decline in the incidence of metastases. “Due to the action of curcumin, the tumor cells synthesize smaller amounts of cytokines that promote metastasis,” says Bachmeier. “As a consequence, the frequency of metastasis formation in the lungs is significantly reduced, in animals with breast cancer, as we showed previously, or carcinoma of the prostate, as demonstrated in our new study.”

Ten years ago, the Bali Bombing, October 12, 2002. Survivors and families of the victims gathered in Bali to commemorate this tragic event. “The ceremony was held under the watch of 2,000 police and military personnel, including snipers, after Indonesia issued its top alert due to a “credible” terror threat in Bali. However, authorities on Thursday tried to ease fears of an attack.” Australia’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard was in attendance.

The Bali Bombing in the Kuta seaside resort resulted in more than 200 deaths, mainly Australian tourists. The bomb attack was allegedly perpetrated by an Al Qaeda affiliated organization Jemaah Islamiah.

To this date: the official story prevails: “Al Qaeda in south East Asia” was behind the attacks. According to the BBC latest report (October 12, 2012):

Who was Behind Jemaah Islamiah?
Both the US and Australian police and intelligence authorities involved in the 2002 Bali investigation turned a blind eye on the links between Indonesian Intelligence (BIN) and Jemaah Islamiah (JI), which allegedly was behind the bombings. BIN was in fact involved in the October 2002 investigation together with its US and Australian counterrparts.

The bomb attack was allegedly perpetrated by Jemaah Islamiah, a group, which operates in several countries in South East Asia. Press reports and official statements at the time pointed to close ties between Jemaah Islamiah (JI) and Al Qaeda. The JI’s “operational leader” was Riduan Isamuddin, alias Hambali, a veteran of the Soviet-Afghan war, who was trained in Afghanistan and Pakistan. According to a report by UPI:

Many of the radicals detained in Singapore and Malaysia derived their ideological inspiration from the activities of the Mujahideen in Afghanistan and Pakistan”

The training of the Mujahideen in Afghanistan and Pakistan was a CIA sponsored initiative launched in 1979, using Pakistan’s military intelligence (ISI). as a go-between. Jemaah Islamiah (JI), an alleged affiliate of Al Qaeda was a product of this CIA sponsored project.

JI’s links to Indonesia’s Military Intelligence
There were indications, that in addition to its alleged links to Al Qaeda, Jemaah Islamiah had links to Indonesia’s military intelligence, which in turn has ties to the CIA and Australian intelligence. The links between JI and Indonesia’s Intelligence Agency (BIN) were acknowledged in a 2003 report by the International Crisis Group (ICG):

It should be emphasized that Indonesia’s intelligence apparatus (BIN) during a period of more than 30 years was controlled by the CIA.

In the wake of the October 2002 Bali bombing, a contradictory report emanating from Indonesia’s top brass, pointed to the involvement of both the head of Indonesian intelligence General A. M. Hendropriyono as well as the CIA:

“The agency and its director, Gen. A. M. Hendropriyono, are well regarded by the United States and other governments. But there are still senior intelligence officers here who believe that the C.I.A. was behind the bombing.”2

In response to these statements, the Bush Administration demanded that President Megawati Sukarnoputri, publicly refute the involvement of the U.S in the attacks. No official retraction was issued. Not only did President Megawati (the daughter of Sukarno) remain silent on this matter, she also accused the US of being:

“a superpower that forced the rest of the world to go along with it… We see how ambition to conquer other nations has led to a situation where there is no more peace unless the whole world is complying with the will of the one with the power and strength.” 3

Meanwhile, the Bush Administration used the Bali attacks to prop up its fear campaign:

“President Bush said Monday that he assumes al-Qaeda was responsible for the deadly bombing in Indonesia and that he is worried about fresh attacks on the United States.” 4

The news [regarding the Bali attack] came as US intelligence officials warned that more attacks like the Indonesian bombing can be expected in the next few months, in Europe, the Far East or the US.”5

Foreknowledge of the Bombings?
The links of JI to the Indonesian intelligence agency were never raised in the official Indonesian government investigation -which was guided behind the scenes by Australian intelligence and the CIA.

Moreover, shortly after the bombing, Australian Prime Minister John Howard “admitted that the Australian authorities had been warned about possible attacks in Bali but chose not to issue a warning.”6 Also In the wake of the bombings, the Australian government chose to work with Indonesia’s Special Forces the Kopassus, in the so-called “war on terrorism”.

Reminiscent of Operation Northwoods, the Bali attack served to trigger “a useful wave of indignation.”7 It contributed to swaying Australian public opinion in favor of the US invasion of Iraq, while weakening the anti-war protest movement. In the wake of the Bali attack, the Australian government “officially” joined the US-led “war on terrorism.” The Bali bombings were used by the Australian government as a pretext to fully integrate the US-UK military axis as well adopt drastic police measures including “ethnic profiling” directed against its own citizens:
