Once again, the corporate media rolls out a scary story about Islamists threatening the state, this time represented by the British royal family. “Police are concerned about two extreme groups which are planning protests during the Royal Wedding,” Sky News reports today.
Sky News reports that Muslims Against the Crusades has decided to protest outside of Westminster Abbey where the Archbishop of Canterbury will marry Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton on Friday. The group was told it would not be allowed to protest there. Muslims Against Crusades wants a general Muslim uprising on Friday and has reportedly told Princes William and Harry to “watch your backs,” apparently a thinly veiled threat.
The royal wedding will be guarded by a massive security operation, including around 5,000 police officers and hundreds of soldiers in uniform. Assistant Commissioner Lynne Owens of the London Metropolitan Police sounded a lot like Janet Napolitano. “We want the public to be our eyes and ears and report anything suspicious or unusual.”
The mention of Muslims Against Crusades and its leader, Anjem Choudary, should set off alarm bells. Choudary founded another Islamic group, al-Muhajiroun, with Omar Bakri Muhammed, who admitted in 1998 he shares a special relationship with British intelligence. “I think now we have something called public immunity,” he said during an interview.
Authors Sean O’Neill and Daniel McGrory have documented a special relationship between Islamist leaders, including Abu Hamza al-Masri and Abu Qatada, and British intelligence. The British Secret Service, MI6, protected Haroon Rashid Aswat, the alleged mastermind of the 7/7 London bombings, according to counterterrorism expert John Loftus. Aswat was affiliated with al-Muhajiroun.

An al-Qaida operative accused of bombing two Christian churches and a luxury hotel in Pakistan in 2002 was at the same time working for British intelligence, according to secret files on detainees who were shipped to the US military’s Guantánamo Bay prison camp.
Adil Hadi al Jazairi Bin Hamlili, an Algerian citizen described as a “facilitator, courier, kidnapper, and assassin for al-Qaida”, was detained in Pakistan in 2003 and later sent to Guantánamo Bay. But according to Hamlili’s Guantánamo ”assessment” file, one of 759 individual dossiers obtained by the Guardian, US interrogators were convinced that he was simultaneously acting as an informer for British and Canadian intelligence. After his capture in June 2003 Hamlili was transferred to Bagram detention centre, north of Kabul, where he underwent numerous “custodial interviews” with CIA personnel.
They found him “to have withheld important information from the Canadian Secret Intelligence Service and British Secret Intelligence Service … and to be a threat to US and allied personnel in Afghanistan and Pakistan”.
The Guardian and the New York Times published a series of reports based on the leaked cache of documents which exposed the flimsy grounds on which many detainees were transferred to the camp and portrayed a system focused overwhelmingly on extracting intelligence from prisoners. A long walk home from school
On 20 and 21 April 2011, during the Jewish Passover holiday, the Israeli military closed all of the gates on the east side of the Old City souq in Al Khalil/Hebron. This severely restricted the movement of Palestinian residents in that area. One of those affected was Yusuf.
Yusuf is five years old. He attends the kindergarten just across the landing from the CPT women’s apartment. He’s a bright little boy, who interprets in sign language for his mother, who is deaf. He has congenital physical difficulties: he has no left arm and one leg is significantly shorter than the other.
On 20 April two CPTers happened to meet up with Yusuf and his kindergarten teacher as she took him home after class. The teacher took him first to one gate. It was locked. A soldier refused to open it and directed her to another locked gate. She walked there with Yusuf, and knocked at the gate. A soldier at that gate also refused to let them come through.
Yusuf’s teacher then went with him to the home of a Palestinian woman whose house has doors both into the souq and onto Shuhada Street. She kindly allows children and teachers to pass through her house when the military lock the gates. Through that circuitous route the teacher was finally able to take Yusuf to his home.
