  It becomes more and more difficult to discuss U.S. employment “statistics”, since an ever greater percentage of what is presented is simply total fabrication. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) might as well abbreviate its name to “Bureau of LieS“, as none of the reports it produces bear any resemblance to the real world.
   
  To this mountain of fiction we can now add the “ADP” monthly-payrolls report. This statistic is supposed to be beyond manipulation, as its data-stream comes directly from the payrolls of U.S. employers. However, look at “the fine print” and we will see that its report represents the data of less than 1/6th of total employment.
   
  When their reporting excludes 85% of the U.S. economy, it obviously becomes very easy to “stack the deck”. As an easy example: the U.S. is (still) embroiled in two (and now three?) “wars”. With the biggest war-machine in the history of the world, certainly more than 1/6th of the U.S. economy is devoted to simply servicing that war-machine.
   
  Thus all that ADP Employment Services needed to do to create a “U.S. economic recovery” is to focus its reporting on U.S. companies which derive a substantial part of their revenues from the U.S. military – a very long list. Having established that this data-stream could have easily been skewed to the point of total irrelevance, the question then becomes: is there evidence of such fabrication?
   
  Fortunately, there remain a few niches of data reporting in the U.S. economy which have not yet been completely “sterilized” by the U.S. government’s propaganda-machine. When such data is depicted in the form of long-term charts, those charts paint an irrefutable picture of an economy mired not merely in a “recession”, but one which is clearly experiencing a depression.
   
  Let’s start with the one measurement of the U.S. unemployment rate which is still in the same ballpark as real-world numbers: the “U6″ measurement.

  

First let’s look at the overall level. Current U.S. unemployment is about 16% – nearly double what the U.S. government pretends it to be. Note the tiny improvement from the worst level. The roughly 1% decline in this rate takes it back to where it was when the U.S. government claimed that the U.S. economy had “hit bottom”.
 
Let me reiterate this: after two years of a supposed “economic recovery”, even using the U.S. government’s own data, we see that the unemployment rate has merely equaled the rate at the “bottom” of the so-called recession. Two years of supposed “job creation” has brought the U.S. economy to the same point it was at the so-called “bottom”. Using the U.S. government’s own data, there clearly never was a “recovery”.

  The gold price recovered at Mumbai’s bullion exchange in yesterday’s trading session, buoyed by demand from India’s jewellery industry. More and more international investors are also starting to expect that Portugal will draw upon financial assistance from EU partners, with further European sovereign debt instability expected.
   
  In India, standard gold with a gold purity of 99.5% increased by 70 rupees and finished yesterday’s trading session at 20,695 rupees per 10 grams. Pure gold with a gold purity of 99.9 jumped by 65 rupees to 20,795 rupees per 10 grams. The price for silver with a purity of 99.9 climbed by 400 rupees to 56,410 rupees per kilogram compared to the previous day. As traders from Mumbai’s bullion exchange reported, the silver price was able to gain due to high investment demand as well as rising demand from industrial end users. Precious metals were also supported by the violence in Libya, which has driven many Asian investors to safe havens.

  However, as a Reuters survey published on Wednesday shows, 43% of 28 participating analysts expect the gold price to stagnate in a range between $1,450 and $1,500 per ounce in the second quarter. Half of the participants saw the gold price even below or within a range of $1,400 and $1,450 per ounce until the end of June. Some analysts predict that the dollar will soon bottom, which could negatively affect the gold price development in the second quarter. Nevertheless, this situation would not disturb the yellow metal´s long-term bull market, though China’s central bank voices a more cautious note.
   
  As a study by the People´s Bank of China (PBC) published last Friday stated, “we need to note that gold prices have reached historical highs, and its downward risks should not be overlooked”. However, this caution this is hard to reconcile with the PBC also warning of a deterioration in Europe’s sovereign debt crisis, further declines in the US dollar over the rest of the year, further gains in commodity prices and continuing lax monetary policy from central banks.
   
  China’s state-owned broadcaster CNTV reported this week that gold purchases by domestic investors are skyrocketing. As the head of a large Chinese gold trading company said in an interview with the broadcaster, his business had grown by 20% every month in the last two years. More and more local traders are being told that their gold deliveries are being rationed due to the intense demand. More delivery bottlenecks will add to price pressure. The demand from China’s middle class is one of the main drivers of the gold price. Market observers said that this situation would likely not change in the foreseeable future.

Indeed, the rebel forces trying to topple Gaddafi admittedly include more than 1,000 al Qaeda soldiers while enjoying total backing– weapons, planes, funding and forces– from the U.S., Britain, NATO and other allies. The CIA and British SAS forces that are now “officially” entering Libya as ground support were covertly operating at least a month ago.
   
  However, the Pentagon-run al Qaeda hoax has deeper history than can be covered in just a few minutes of airtime. As we cover some of the highlights of al Qaeda’s duplicitous history, consider these conflicting statements from two U.S. Presidents about the Taliban / al Qaeda (albeit from different points in time):
   
  “They hate our freedoms — our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other.”
  – George W. Bush, Address to a Joint Session of Congress and the American People, September 20, 2001
   
  “These (Taliban) gentlemen are the moral equivalents of America’s Founding Fathers.”
  — Ronald Wilson Reagan in 1985 while introducing the Mujahideen leaders to media on the White House lawn.
   
  The answer to the contradiction is learning to embrace the deception as truth, whenever the State says to do so, just as Winston Smith finally “learns” in 1984– when he is compelled to find that 2+2=5. His torturer, O’Brien, tells him ‘You are a slow learner, Winston.’
   
  ‘How can I help it?’ [Winston] blubbered. ‘How can I help seeing what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four.’
   
  ‘Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane.’

  The aide [Rove] said that guys like me were ”in what we call the reality-based community,” which he defined as people who ”believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.” I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. [Rove] cut me off. ”That’s not the way the world really works anymore,” he continued. ”We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”
   
  Unbeknownst to the media at that time, Rove was operating on behalf of a government that was not only arrogant, but had taken a page directly out of George Orwell’s 1984. America’s enemy Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda were remarkably like Emmanuel Goldstein, arch-villain of Oceania in 1984. Goldstein [or bin Laden] was “commander of a vast shadowy army, an underground network of conspirators dedicated to the overthrow of the State.” An enemy that couldn’t be found, killed or slowed from influencing new conspirators at every turn. “Somewhere or other,” Orwell wrote, “he was still alive and hatching his conspiracies.”
   
  “Goldstein was delivering his usual venomous attack upon the doctrines of the Party — an attack so exaggerated and perverse that a child should have been able to see through it, and yet just plausible enough to fill one with an alarmed feeling that other people, less level-headed than oneself, might be taken in by it… Goldstein produced fear and anger automatically. He was an object of hatred more constant than either Eurasia or Eastasia, since when Oceania was at war with one of these Powers it was generally at peace with the other. But what was strange was that although Goldstein was hated and despised by everybody… his influence never seemed to grow less.”
   
  In 1984, it was rumored that Goldstein, whereabouts unknown, might even be taking refuge somewhere within their own superstate itself; consequently, “a day never passed when spies and saboteurs acting under his directions were not unmasked by the Thought Police.” In contemporary America, the Department of Homeland Security now takes that possibility as its directive, screening and searching ordinary people everywhere in search of shadowy al Qaeda or “homegrown terrorists.” Just as in 1984, children were trained to be spies to rat out suspicious adults.
   
  Behind the hoax contrived to control party members and maintain power, Winston’s torturer and member of the inner-party, O’Brien, confessed that he had personally taken part in writing Goldstein’s outlawed book– a lie to serve the State. It was necessary for the controlling party to create a living myth that portrayed Goldstein as a classic, evasive “external enemy“. The utility of the external enemy has been noted by many, including the Club of Rome, who wrote in 1991 that “Humans only truly unite when faced with a powerful external enemy…At this time a new enemy must be found, one either real or invented for the purpose.” Henry Kissinger likewise quipped at Bilderberg in 1991 that the United Nations might seize upon an “outside threat from beyond” to unite the peoples of the world.
   
  Thus, the steady diet of propaganda, including the two-minutes hate that daily featured new installments of Goldstein’s crimes and heresies. In 1984, Goldstein was:
   
  “almost on a level with Big Brother himself, and then had engaged in counter-revolutionary activities, had been condemned to death, and had mysteriously escaped and disappeared. The programmes of the Two Minutes Hate varied from day to day, but there was none in which Goldstein was not the principal figure. He was the primal traitor.”
   
  O’Brien proclaimed during Winston’s torturous re-education sessions that: “Goldstein and his heresies will live for ever. Every day, at every moment, they will be defeated, discredited, ridiculed, spat upon and yet they will always survive.” Bin Laden has been patently the same archetypal enemy– despite being wanted dead or alive (Bush, Sept. 18, 2001), armies can’t find him [TIME 2002] after a decade.
