Dr. Blaylock: Body Scanners More Dangerous Than Feds Admit
Dr. Russell Blaylock is a nationally recognized board-certified neurosurgeon, health practitioner, author, lecturer, and editor of The Blaylock Wellness Report.
The growing outrage over the Transportation Security Administration’s new policy of backscatter scanning of airline passengers and “enhanced pat-downs” brings to mind these wise words from President Ronald Reagan: “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.’”
So, what is all the concern really about — will these radiation scanners increase your risk of cancer or other diseases? A group of scientists and professors from the University of California at San Francisco voiced their concern to Obama’s science and technology adviser John Holdren in a well-stated letter back in April.
The group included experts in radiation biology, biophysics, and imaging, who expressed “serious concerns” about the “dangerously high” dose of radiation to the skin.
Radiation increases cancer risk by damaging the DNA and various components within the cells. Much of the damage is caused by high concentrations of free radicals generated by the radiation. Most scientists think that the most damaging radiation types are those that have high penetration, such as gamma-rays, but in fact, some of the most damaging radiation barely penetrates the skin.
One of the main concerns is that most of the energy from the airport scanners is concentrated on the surface of the skin and a few millimeters into the skin. Some very radiation-sensitive tissues are close to the skin — such as the testes, eyes, and circulating blood cells in the skin.
This is why defenders using such analogies as the dose being “1,000-times less than a chest X-ray” and “far less than what passengers are exposed to in-flight” are deceptive. Radiation damage depends on the volume of tissue exposed. Chest X-rays and gamma-radiation from outer space is diffused over the entire body so that the dose to the skin is extremely small. Of note, outer space radiation does increase cancer rates in passengers, pilots, and flight attendants.

An increasing number of doctors and scientists are going public with their warnings about the health implications of subjecting yourself to naked body scanners. Pushing to brink of war: U.S. sends warships, jets to Korea
Scores of U.S. warships and fighter jets, carrying more than 6,000 crew members and reinforced by ships, planes and 70,000 soldiers of the armed forces of south Korea, began carrying out joint military “exercises” in the sea west of Korea on Nov. 28. They have brought the divided peninsula to the brink of war.
In July some 20 U.S. warships and 200 planes had carried out similar maneuvers with the armed forces of the south. So this is the second time in less than six months that Washington and the right-wing south Korean regime of Lee Myung-Bak have carried out a grave provocation against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (socialist north Korea).
Nor can China, which lies just 200 miles to the northwest across the Yellow Sea, fail to be alarmed at such aggressive military moves by the U.S. Two days before the joint maneuvers began, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said: “We hold a consistent and clear-cut stance on the issue. We oppose any party to take any military acts in our exclusive economic zone without permission.” (Xinhua, Nov. 26) Nevertheless, the U.S. and south Korea went right ahead with the maneuvers.
Hostilities began with shells fired at DPRK
This time the south Korean forces went a step further than in July. Days before the joint exercises with the U.S. were scheduled to begin, they fired live shells into the waters right off the DPRK from the island of Yeonpyeong, which lies far west of the south Korean mainland and very close to the coast of the DPRK. Both the island and the waters are disputed territory. The U.S. had arbitrarily drawn a line on a map years ago claiming the island for south Korea, but the DPRK has never accepted that.
Thus, the military who ordered these shells fired at 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 23 knew full well that this was a brazen provocation against the DPRK – one that could easily lead to a response in kind, especially since the DPRK had already characterized the “exercises” as a simulated invasion of the north.
If south Korea and its huge sponsor, the U.S., had wanted to avoid confrontation with the DPRK, would they have fired shells into a disputed area? Especially since the DPRK had already declared that the military maneuvers were “simulating an invasion of the north”? The provocation comes from the U.S. and the Lee Myung-bak regime, not the DPRK.
North Korea As Pretext: U.S. Builds Asian Military Alliance Against China And Russia (emphasis mine)
On December 1 the U.S. and its South Korean military ally completed four days of naval maneuvers in the Yellow Sea where China claims a 200-mile exclusive economic zone. The U.S. dispatched the 97,000-ton USS George Washington nuclear-powered aircraft supercarrier for the exercise, accompanied by a carrier strike group consisting of a guided missile cruiser and three guided missile destroyers. The American deployment included 6,000 sailors and 75 aircraft. South Korea supplied destroyers, corvettes, frigates, support ships, anti-submarine aircraft and an undisclosed amount of military personnel.
The war games, which included live-fire shooting and bombing drills, were the latest in a series of U.S.-led military exercises in South Korea and the seas to its east and west beginning in July of this year:
From July 25-28 the U.S. conducted a joint military exercise with South Korea codenamed Invincible Spirit in the Sea of Japan/East Sea with the involvement of 20 warships including the USS George Washington supercarrier, 200 warplanes including F-22 Raptor stealth fighters and 8,000 troops.
In August the U.S. and South Korea conducted this year’s Ulchi Freedom Guardian military exercise, the world’s largest command and control simulation drill, in the latter country with 30,000 U.S. and 56,000 South Korean troops participating.
In early September Washington and Seoul held an anti-submarine warfare exercise in the Yellow Sea with two U.S. guided missile destroyers and a fast attack submarine and two South Korean destroyers. Only the August exercise was a routine one, the latest in a series of Ulchi Freedom Guardian maneuvers held over several decades.
On the day the most recent military exercise ended, December 1, it was announced that the U.S. and South Korea will hold another military exercise this month. [1] The following day “South Korea…readied plans for more live-fire drills as a warning to North Korea and scheduled talks with the United States and Japan on dealing with [North Korea]….” [2] The armed forces of the Republic of Korea will begin five days of artillery drills on December 6 in 29 locations, including on border islands in the Yellow Sea.

Lethal Cold Weather Grips Northern Europe!

Lethal cold weather grips northern Europe
Heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures have been causing another day of disruption to northern Europe and its transport network. Thousands of railway passengers had to spend the night in trains in Germany as snow paralysed many high-speed inter-city routes. Flights were disrupted in the UK, France, the Netherlands and Germany.
In Poland, 18 people have died from exposure over the past two days. Most were homeless people under the influence of alcohol, a police spokesman said. In other developments:
- Denmark mobilised its army to help emergency vehicles make their way through snow in the south-east
- Eurostar trains from France faced cancellations or delays while snowfalls trapped hundreds of motorists in Brittany and Normandy
- In Belgium, 650km of traffic jams were reported, with Flanders hit hard
- In the UK, Gatwick, Edinburgh and London City airports all suffered closures
Cold air moving down from Siberia has contributed to the wintry conditions in northern Europe. Temperatures are an average 5-10C below average in some major cities.
Exposure deaths
Temperatures dropped to as low as -26C (-14.8F) in Poland on Wednesday. Five other people died in central Europe and two in the UK, while Russian media reported three deaths in Moscow.
Some 3,000 rail passengers were stranded overnight in trains in Germany, German railway operator Deutsche Bahn said. The authorities in Berlin kept underground stations, soup kitchens and heated buses open all night to provide shelter for the city’s homeless.
Significant flight delays were reported at London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam Schiphol, Berlin Tegel and Duesseldorf airports. Geneva airport reopened on Thursday morning, but was advising that passengers arrive a full two hours before the departure time and use public transport to avoid traffic problems on the roads.

New High for Gold in Euros as Debt Fears Cause Safe Haven Flight!

New High for Gold in Euros as Debt Fears Cause Safe Haven Flight
Europeans worried about the collapsing value of the euro are buying gold as well as switching into dollars. This is keeping both the yellow metal and greenback rising in value although normally they move in opposite directions.
Gold hit a new all-time high when priced in euros yesterday as the European currency took a battering again in foreign exchange markets. The Irish bailout deal last weekend failed to calm forex markets, partly because the deal may still be rejected by the parliament on December 7th and partly because the buck now passes to Portugal as the next target for bond vigilantes.
Growing eurozone crisis
The eurozone is still in crisis. And problems at the periphery threaten to move closer towards the core. Yesterday even French bond yields ticked up as the crisis deepened for Portugal and Spain, although next in the firing line are Belgium and Italy.
Gold is a logical choice for Europeans still anxious about the dollar and its debt mountain. The yellow metal is priced in dollars and so has the benefit of hedging the declining euro while not actually being linked to the Fed’s monetary policy. It also serves the same function for the UK pound sterling.
Dollar and gold rise
Normally with stock markets falling the US dollar would rally and gold fall in value as investors were forced to sell their gold to cover margin calls. But provided the fall in stock markets remains gradual this may not happen this time as European investors seek a currency hedge in gold.
This is good news for gold and supportive of the New Year rally to $1,650 an ounce propounded by gold bulls like Jim Sinclair. However, stock markets look increasingly fragile and a larger correction might still derail the gold train.
